hot tequilla brown
I love this tune!
at first it was my least favourite, but now is great!!
i specially love that break with Rob Harris and the guitar Cool Cool
its the most sincere song on the album, where jay talks about his life.
i love the lyrics :
"All I want
Is to see my black eyes
Turn back to brown "

i know that some people dont love this song, but i love it and thought that its worth of posting.

I didn't like it at first too, but I'm starting to like it. I think the lyrics are the most interesting of the song Very Happy

very very strong song!!!!
its hard to sing about serious things in disco tunes..
at the same time reggae songs always sound like hymns, carrying serious messages. this is why i think jay has made it in reggae style..
i love this song Cool Cool Cool

as i already said, this song dissapointed me a bit when i listened to it all, it's good but not on the level of the most tunes on the album, anyway the lyrics are great, but theres a thing wich i can't see anywhere but in people thoughts Arrow reggae??
i just can't see any reggae style bit

hi mate, musically its reggae with hip hop beat!
some bands did such type of reggae in 90s.
and melodically its closer to reggae..
melody reminds me of bob marley, who i love very much.

its all about arrangement.. if Derrick changes his beat into
obvious rastafarian style beat you will be surprised
how you didnt notice it before- the track is reggae style..

i think they will do such thing with beat if they play it on live gigs!!!

yeh i agree with you!
but i think that Jay Kay tried to do what he did in TWM with Drifting Along, that song is very different from the others, but it fitted perfectly on the album, actually, i love that song! it's just brilliant!

but of course that's not reggae... first listen Bob Marley and then they will realize that's not Reggae!

Hello there,

I really dig the song, specially the middle part were there are a lot of electronic sounds that goes from one side to another side of my stereo!

I did notice some reggae kind of feel when I first heard it.

buffaloman_R Hello, buffaloman_R

Yeah, "Hot Tequila Brown" is both a great reggae influenced song and a lyrical introspective song. JK takes a long look at himself in this song and hopefully when he wrote this, alot of change came, and he will think twice of relapsing back into this lifestyle. I wasn't very partial to the break in the song, but agree now that it is nice. Must of been very theraputic for JK to calm his emotions with songwriting. Still, very good song, and gives us a little look into how bad things for JK were. Thanks for listening and Peace!

Sincerely,
JamiroFan2000

well, it's clear that if you do a slow funky guitar riff, cutting it downtempo you got a reggae(ish) riff, but i don't think this is comparable to drifting along (great song by the way)
anyway, if the do a version with derrick playing in reggae style i will see it Very Happy
