Dynamite: 300.000 copies sold in UK (Platinum)
Hello Jamirotalkers,
From funkin:

According to the BPI (British record industry's trade association) website (go to Statistics->Certified Awards), on Friday 7 October Dynamite was awarded "Platinum" certification, based on sales of 300,000 copies in the UK. This is based on sales by the record company (Sony BMG) to retail shops.

I would really like to know how many they sold worldwide by now

this album is just better than AFO, and AFO sold 5 million albums worldwide... it will sell 6.9 million albums! of course it won't break TWM's record!!! xD _________________ This is FunkEducation, supporting the 1992-1998 Jamiroquai!!

Pffffffffffffff... however many it is so far, they'd have managed 300,000 in the first month of release here (UK) if they're put the new single out as the FIRST single from the album. I said then it was a fucking stupid move from Sony releasing FJLIS, and so it proved - Dynamite's the first Jami album NOT to enter the UK album charts at either #1 or #2.
I don't particularly mind whether they're selling well or not, as long as they keep releasing stuff and it's good. But it makes you wonder how these record execs think they're worth the salaries they pay themselves, if they can't a decision that simple correct...

No it wasn't, Jay said at the time that he wanted (D)GHAC released as the first single, but Sony told him it had to be FJLIS. I distinctly remember reading the interview because I almost stood up and screamed 'WHY?!' at my computer...

No, It was Jay's idea, he said that in an interview, look:
| Quote: |
| "...The track Give Hate A Chance was a possibility to become the first single, and so was Dynamite, and we were nearly there with selecting one of those, but I knew it was the wrong thing to do. You have to really feel these things, and I just felt that it was the wrong road to go down. It had to be Feels Just like It Should because I felt more comfortable with it as a concept; it was also a great song to make a killer video for. Iām happy with the decision to lead this project with that single..." |
here is the complete interview (credits to Diego// Twenty Zero Three) |
