Your guys' impressions of Coldplay's "X and Y"?
Well Coldplay's new album: "X and Y" came out, and Im wondering what you guys think of it? To me "Rush of Blood to the Head" abum, but I don't know if they'll ever be able to match that effort. It's on the same level as "Parachutes" to me. So overall I didn't think it was all that bad, but not as good as the last one.

Im excited to see them in concert the second week of August in Wisconsin, a state right to the east of Minnesota in the U.S. They are coming to Minneapolis later in the year, but there aren't very many good seats available for the show, so Im not gonna make it there. Oh well...

coldplay are like kc & the sunshine band..... they are a revolution but refuse to diversify their music.

the new album is the same old, not bad.... not good. ideal gift.

buffaloman_R Hello, buffaloman_R

Smile I gave the new Coldplay album "X&Y" a whirl at Tower Records and looks like repetition of their "Old Parachutes" sound is starting to really show Smile. I'm not saying it's a bad album, frankly some of the new songs are simply breathtaking like "Square One" & "Fix You". It seems like all the emphasis on the new songs is to see how high Chris Martin can stretch his flexable falsetto, which is a little TOO excessive in some moments of "X&Y". Still, very listenable album, still I consider it a "Supplement" and not a full album. Thanks for listening and Peace!

Sincerely,
JamiroFan2000

Hello Jamirotalkers,

Coldplay is one of the few "new bands" that I really like. Their 2 albums are very good, but I still haven't heard 'X & Y's'. For all that you're saying, I believe that when you make a really good record, is very hard to repeat the success, so you have a lot of pressure and we find the same old questions: Have to make the same music? Have to improve and make something new? But what if people don't like it?? Maybe they are going through the safe path.

One of My fav bands..that ones that makes me want to put all the songs of the band in mp3 player, pick the car with the deposit full, go to the highway on a very hot summer night with the window opend, and drive all night only stop in the morning right a calm beach with lots of fog.
Cool
I like them alot , i have the 3 albuns..i din't listen with so much atention the X & Y but for i could saw ,for me isn't nothing so new or so special is just a role of the last albuns! Continues with the beat. I like it.
Isn't my fav album, i like much more the Parachutes! Cool

Now thats not much of a post, if you think something sucks why not give a reason, or else its a bit lame. Fair enough if you think they suck, but why?

Personally, this album gets better each time I hear it. Even though Chris Martin is a bit shit live.

I think Pietro hit the nail right on the head. It's very typical Coldplay. They haven't diversified their sound at all. But! I think that can be a good thing. The statement "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" comes into play here. Everyone likes them for what they have put out, so why not put out more of it? It's a big risk to change too radically what has already been working so well for them, so I doubt they will change their style anytime soon. Peace!

It's rock and I'm not a rock fan, that's why I think FJLS is a disgusting song. I'm a soul, deep house and acid jazz fan. Happy?

I always turn up my car radio whenever Speed of Sound is played...since I don't have the album, I can't say if this is the band's masterpiece, but I'd say that SoS is arguably their biggest hit ever.

I also dig the video a lot, the LED screen is trippy.

I think their best song, and biggest hit chart wise was actually "Clocks" from "Rush of Blood to the Head". I still am not tired of that song, but "Speed of Sound" could definately overtake it.
