NEW SINGLE from the 7th Album
Hello Jamirotalkers,
After waiting 4 years from AFO to DY, we are not too far away from the new 'Greatest Hits' or 'Whatever-It's-Called' album, and even closer from listening the NEW single from that album (there's gonna be 2, apparently).
So, I was wondering, how can they sum up nearly 14 years of career in the first track?
What do you expect?

Sure, I'd like to hear acid jazz, but there're more chances to hear dance/disco song. |

I would like to hear first single in real Jamiroquai style - Acid Jazz..
But, like Pepela said, it probably will be in dance/dico style. _________________

Imagines the 1st single from Jamiroquai's 7th studio album being a cover of "I'm Free" by The Who from their rock opera. Imagines JK in a blade hat running out of Sony/BMG headquarters, in full stride, singing, "I'M FREEEEEE.....I'M FREEE....I'm free from Sony/BMG!!!"
Hello,
Well, since Jamiroquai will be free of the slings and arrows of corporate music influence, I think JK would logically aim the band towards the roots of their sound, Acid Jazz . But there's always a chance that "Future minded JK" would want to stick to their innovation of their sound and keep the keyboards humming and the Pro-tools pumping their new sound. But I would say a hybrid, half acid jazz, half new sound...but it would have to satisfy all fans as a whole. Thanks for listening and Peace!
Sincerely,
JamiroFan2000 _________________

I agree.
In fact, I would also like a dance/disco song. I think that the period from Little L and AFO era was a powerful and succesful jamiroquai. I liked their rythms and the optimistic feelings they communicate us, and I'll be glad if they try to keep on working in this way.[/code] |

I love the funky/disco style of Jamiroquai, I like much more than the first sound (altought Space Cowboy, EOPE, etc, are great tracks and albums) _________________

I'd like a new hybrid, with no strings, no backing vocals and lots of percussion. Its just what I want. Will I be happy with anything else? Of course! _________________ ~Mégan |

I'm generous: i'll kill u after the lovebox festival
I am deeply fond of Acid Jazz so it's natural i desire a return of that music style.

Next single!
I voted for Rock/Funk.
I really love the FJLIS/Black Devil Car sound and I think this is the new core sound of Jamiroquai.
We have had a real treat with the first 3 albums but the sound has evolved over time and I can't really see a song in the style of When You gonna Learn being the next single as much as I would love it! _________________ 'This is the world he wants, pray for the brave and the young...' |

Since the question was 'what do you EXPECT?' as opposed to 'what would you LIKE?', I've gone for dance / disco. Although we've now had two albums of that (plus Canned Heat as the lead single from the album before those two), so maybe they'll surprise us.
The only thing I definitely WON'T expect is a ballad, because they've never had a ballad as a lead-off single, and ballads generally speaking don't make very good first singles - think about it: how many times do you see a ballad released as a single that's the FIRST single from that album? Not very often...
Though it'd STILL be really nice to see a 'Best of...' rather than a 'Greatest hits', and see one of the OLD songs that never got a single outing (Revolution 1993, say, or Scam) in the charts. Well, more than anything I think it'd just make for a very funny episode of Top Of The Pops... 'That was Pussycat Dolls with their latest piece of crap... and now here's Jamiroquai with something about ten billion times better than any of our regular viewers will actually be able to comprehend...'
Well, I can dream.

Well,I would LIKE to hear them go back to their Acid Jazz roots, but I EXPECT that it will be a Dance/Disco track.
Don't get me wrong, I love how Jamiroquai has taken the old school disco/funk/dance sound and put a modern day twist on it, but their Acid Jazz stuff had a more unique and innovative sound to it...that's not to say their newer stuff doesn't either, though.
Either way, I think they'll do a great job on whatever they choose, and I can't wait to hear it when it comes out. |
