are you serious?
i met this guy last year when he came to Adelaide for a gig at Memorial drive, he was walking down rundle mall, and he like was VERY talkative, i talked to him for about 10 mintues about evrything, asked him how's australia treating you etc.
i think he's a great guy.

same solos? i dont think so.
ive got some of his albums from back in the 70's, and yes, most of the solos on those tracks were the same.
but the ones on the recent albums are unique, they sound excellent. |

at last i can hear more different solos in Rob Harris...
Santana is not at all a shit as i said, but i think that most people abuse telling that he's the world's most amazing guitarrist... there are a lot of better guitarrists around the world... _________________ This is FunkEducation, supporting the 1992-1998 Jamiroquai!!

It's true Edgar. Santana's solos sound always the same but I think that what makes him a great guitarrist is the feeling he puts in his performance. Technically speaking he's not the best but passion makes the difference. And I do think he's more listenable than Harris I always skip his solos in the songs. _________________ We're going to a funktion yeah yeah yeah |

Yeh that is true, i mean, he is not a crap guitarrist, he's well known but always listening the same solos is really boring... and i don't like Rob's solos, but they are very varied... my guitarrists are Gavin Dodds and Simon Katz... the solo that Gavin did in Club Citta' 93 is quite amazing! and i like his guitars in The Kids! he's a great example of a guitarrist... but in the other side, he didn't show so much feel... as Simon... i think that rob is better in that aspect... _________________ This is FunkEducation, supporting the 1992-1998 Jamiroquai!!

I don't know the old stuff from Santana, except "samba pa ti". I really liked "Supernatural", because it was something fresh in the time it was launched, with the special aggregate of invited artists, but "Shaman" was in my opinion, an album very similar to the previous one, and it wasn't successful at all, I only remember that tune with Michelle Branch. _________________

Well, I have to disagree...
Santana's past work is incredible...if you really research his history, you will see how he is a great guitarrist...take his appearance at woodstock, in 69..Santana were unknown, but the show was such a success, it helped turn him into what he is today..
That man brought Latin America full into rock music, while rock was BRITISH dominated...it's incredible...then if u really wanna get tough go check his jazz rock stuff, with JOHN MCLAUGHLIN, one of the greatest guitarrists ever put in this world, and his live concerts playing with his band and mclaughlin's famous mahavishnu orchestra...
He is a very smart man, knows his music well, and is not just another bad guitarrist...but of course, he didn't escape the cheezyness of the 80's and 90's, which ruined rock music...but if you think about it, no one escaped the 80's 9with the possible exception of jaco pastorius i think)...even clapton's ravishing solos from the cream, blind faith and derek & the domino's era did not escape the 90's, and he also became commercial...thank god he is coming back to his excellent blue roots, like santana is experimenting with jazz....
Ok, maybe "supernatural", with all those stars, and Maria Maria kind of songs wasn't good, i agree, but Just listen to his work with McLaughlin, and songs such as Black Magic Woman, and Soul Sacrifice, and u will see what the meaning of SANTANA is... _________________

we are not being agressive to santana, we are just pointing our dislike... he is so famous for being the "best" guitarrist in all the world... and i don't agree with that... his brother Jorge was ten million times better than him. He played so many times with "The Fania All-Stars" (important salsa movement of the 70's) and his performances were so much better.. that is a real guitarrist... the same happened with Tito Puente... "The greatest Timbal player of the world" "The king of timbal", he was quite a nice player, but not the best, also, timbal was not his main instrument... his instrument were the vibes. Nicky Marrero for me had more power and improvisation than Tito. _________________ This is FunkEducation, supporting the 1992-1998 Jamiroquai!!
