JamiroFan's Reviews of "F4" and "Howl's"
buffaloman_R Hello, buffaloman_R

Smile I have just returned from a 2nd weekend at the movies, and I offer you 1 good and 1 bad review of 2 of the hottest weekends opening this weekend Smile:

THE FANTASTIC FOUR Review:

Rolling Eyes Well, probably the most "novel choice" of the successful comic book series picks to make a bloated summer out of, I could tell this movie was going to bomb right from the pre-teaser movie trailer Rolling Eyes. Other comic book movies have fared much better, due to extra time spent on good writing, spectacular special effects that compliment the characters and great casting. "Fantastic 4" has a good cast, but the execution, on all aspects, is very flawed, just watch the "Human Torch" open his mouth his tight moments and watch the "Flame reference cliques" come piping out. I won't go into detail about the plot, the "Unfantastics" are astronauts, there's a expected accident and they all gain rare abilities that Stan Lee could have thought out better. But I will say one positive thing about this movie, at least "Doctor Doom's" protective was nice and clean. I give this "unfortunate Overly American" comic exploit a shameful 1 1/2 tubs of over buttered popcorn out of 5 tubs.

HOWL'S MOVING CASTLE REVIEW:

Very Happy I have been a constant fan of the Japanese animation of master animator Hayao Miyazaki since I was a teen sitting there with a perplexed look of wonderment at "Nausicaa Warriors of the Wind" about 15 years ago Very Happy. Now, under the import regiment of Disney, Miyazaki-sans latest animated film "Howl's Moving Castle" has landed on American shores ready to thrill another new generation of moviegoers. And there has been a trend where every progressive Miyazaki film that comes out every 2-3 years break Japanese movie records, and "Howl's" has with grossing over 200 million $$. This movie, rumoured to be his last, is a AMAZING journey based on a American Children's book by Diana Wynn Jones of the same name, loosely based. I HIGHLY recommend this film to any fan of animation, cause believe me, Disney and Pixar aren't MAGICAL with their specific mediums of animation anymore, Miyazaki's Studio Ghibli is the new king of world animation! I applaud Miyazaki-san and the whole team at Studio Ghibli, I cringe at Disney's incessant dubbing of perfectly subtitled anime films and award "Howl's Moving Castle" a 5 tubs of over buttered popcorn out of 5 tubs! The movie is rated PG, due to some scary demon faces and other fiendish stuff.

There you go, hope you enjoy those reviews, I expect I will issuing alot of summer movie reviews here on Talk. Next time, expect a review from me for the Tim Burton retread of Ronald Dahl's "Charlie & The Chocolate Factory", let's see if Johnny Depp can fill "Gene Wilder's" tophat properly! Peace!

Sincerely,
JamiroFan2000

My anime-loving neighbor introduced me to Miyazaki this past year in college with "Princess Mononoke." It wasn't just a great anime, it was a great movie PERIOD.

I'll definitely have to keep an eye out for the DVD of "Howl's". The Providence theatres aren't running it.
