i have heard the jami gig 2 times in row, first in the live gig and then back in the car in the record i made!
Very Happy
the sound had have a little problem with the megakiller megabass in some powerful songs, but it's been a great concert
the concert it's been 108 minutes long,(including encore waiting time) (quite short!) and this is the songs they have played:
-intro, lalo schifrin - theme from enter the draggon (remix)(not live)
-canned heat
-space cowboy
-cosmic girl
-revolution
-little l
-dynamite
-high times
-butterfly
-(don't) give hate a chance
-use the force
-seven days in sunny june
-travelling without moving
-love foolosophy
-alright
-deeper underground

tomorrow i'm going out but soon i will review the concert and the songs properly, now i have to go to bed........

I've listened to Jamiroquai since the first album and they've been on my 'must see' list for a long time, especially since I saw the Verona concert on DVD. After yesterday, I can finally put a tick in the box.

Things didn't start well, with the opening act (El Columpio Asesino) starting over an hour late and another long delay before Jay Kay & Co. finally appeared. Plus the fact that we spent well over an hour queueing to get a beer!

However, when they did appear , the show was well up to standard. The stage was smaller than other Jamiro gigs I've seen (on video) and Jay Kay had a closer rapport with the other band members than on other occasions. The dense illumination was also spectacular.

I regard Jay Kay as a very competent singer and an excellent showman and his performance was what we have come to expect from him vocally and choreographically. But, as a musician myself I was very much paying attention to the other band members. Especially impressive were the bass player and percussionist (who was celebrating his birthday).

The sound was generally crisp and clear apart from a couple of synth bass and sub-bass lines which were a bit out of control. I was standing right beside one of the speaker towers and my chest cavity almost exploded at the beginning and end of Deeper Underground and Revolution.

Oh, and by the way I also took a few photos. Here's a link to a zip file with the best:

at last i've got some time to do a little review!
i was supossed to met some jamirofans as laia and her friends from catalonia and jazziroquai, but we didn't met, maybe next time.
but i met clara, wich is a very nice girl, she came to me and asked if i was iñaki, we spend the concert together and had great time, but having her at my left all the concert was a bad move, as Jay only look at her! Laughing
well, they started with the enter the dragon remix, suddenly they appear on the stage and start playing a very cool version of canned heat, the version is so good, it mix a kind of album version and some new stuff wich makes it very danceable and groovy, and added a new outro to link it with space cowboy, at the beggining jay was a little bit cold, didn't danced so much in the first song, so people was also a bit cold, maybe jay spected more people on the concert at it was only half of the people on the place.
but as far as he started doing some funky movements people started dancing and didn't stop.
space cowboy is one of my favorites so as far as it started i went crazy and lighted the joint i had prepared smoke'n'jump everybody know this new version, is just perfect with all those changing parts, with a very cool smooth interlude, the band played just perfect, Sola and derrick seem always so happy playing, always looking each other with a smile on their faces, paul turner is a great player, and he knows how to be on a stage! he plays so funky, he laughs a lot while looking the people dancing like crazy ,he had great time looking at my funky moves too! Very Happy
then jay said hes famous sentence, this one is for the cosmic girls, and pointed to clara, with a big smile, pointing her again and again, like saying "yeah" cosmic girls, you know who you are". it was so funny. the song put all the people dancing like crazy and jay was already hotter so he did lot of great moves and jumps all the time.with revolution i spend some of the best moments in the concert, man i love this track and this new version, the only bad thing that was the bass used a megakiller loud pedal or something, and it was a little out of control, we where just in front of the right speakers, and we felt that our bodys will explode, but it was a cool effect, i danced like crazy, so i didn't noticed if people was enjoying too, but the big applasuses the get after the song makes me think that people loved it. then, they started with the new intro for little l, you know what to expect, all people dancing and singing along, clapping and double clapping, the band was amazed with the people and extended the song with the funky bass part.then they have a little break, jay saw the setlist and announced a song from the new album so i was specting feels just like it should but he announced dynamite, he changed something of the setlist, maybe he jumped 2 songs from it,the band looked each other like surprised and paul changed the bass quickly, so they started with the tune.the intro of this song is amazing but i saw the band a bit lost with this song, they jamed a little i think, or jay missed some parts or something, the thing is that the song changes some many times from part to part and it seem that someone changed to a different part to others and it was a little chaos on it, but it was ok, people danced to the song and singed althugh it was clear that it was new for most of the people there.
then it was time for some twm album and the played high times wich rocked the house, all the peolpe went crazy and danced and jumped to the song, everybody was so happy after each songs and the aplauses for the band were so noisy.then they played butterfly,so smooth, i dig it a lot, it was time for a bit of relax, people also gave a big aplausse at the end of the song, they performed it perfectly.then they started with don't give hate a chance, this one was great, cos at the beggining the people didn't know the song, and i was one of the few dancing and siging to it, but as the song was on people started digin it and getting the melody and the chorus, so at the end we all were dancing and singing to the song, people liked it a lot, it's clear that is a good song for a single.then jay went out from the stage and was just in front of me, half hidden by the speakers but i saw him taking the lightsaber and speaking with the staff people, but the thingy didn't work propelry at the beggining, they have probles lighting it, i saw it on at the end,the blue light but the band started playing use the force so jay let the lightsabre there and went to the stage without it, and didn't mention it nor did any performance with it, so we missed that.... Sad
the version of use the force was great, although i prefer the midnight sun version, the effect the backing vocals do on the "yeeeeah" "ooohhohh" it's incredible, they do dome kind of fade in and it's really cool, sola and derrick did again a remarkable work.then played seven days in sunny june, people enjoyed it, everybody loved but myself i wa sa bit dissapointed, it sounded a bit empty, i think matt should do more playing in this song, i think he should give much more to the songs, more vibe sto everything, i just don't like what he does... Sad
then they played a long version of travelling without moving, so changed, most of the bassline was totally changed, to a more house bassline (i noticed paul did this with so many parts on songs,he plays so good, but he gots a housey touch in lot of bits, as nick had with the disco and stu with the groove) the song was great, all the people was dancing all the time, i again missed some good vibes from matt, and more at the end of the song, now that there aren't any brass to funk up the song.robs guitar sounds great in this song, but he is a total rocker.....
then they playeda long version of love foolosophy, with great new parts so many style changings, from funky to harder disco sound, so many jamming in this one, it was very very good, and the derrick-sola end is always welcome! Very Happy
then jay introduced to the band and say us that was solas birthday, i singe him the happybirthday tune, but nobody elese did it so he didn't heard it....
they started with the loooong intro of alright, they always play it till you get bored, but then they start with the bouncy tune and everybody signs and dances happily, after the break for signing with the people and the back to the song it finished and the band went out from the stage, after a quite long wait for the reentry, they come back and played deeper underground, they put all the people jumping high and did a great version of the song with some jamming too, the problem was again the killer loud sound, i couldn't with it, i had to put my hands on the hears or i will explode, really.
so, that was the concert, it was quite short, i was specting a couple songs more, but since they played love fool i knew that it will be like that.....
it was great time, and i again go with the same sensation, i just love how derrick plays, man! he is the best drummer in the world, nothing comparing to him, sola is also incredible, jay as always sang so well (oh, i remeber now! i was so scared as i thought he loses his voice in the middle of use the force, he was singing and after a "hooooow" he just sang with a complete cracked voice the next sentence of the chorus, but after another "use the force ouuuaawww" he again singed well, i don't know if was a micro effect wich entered by error or a real voice breaking, i was really scared from some seconds), he moved and jumped great, did a real good movements and let all the people with an admiration face, he didn't talk a lot this time but did great job.paul is a very very good player a si said, he jams perfectly and have the groove inside, is so nice, rob makes much rock for me and i didn't pay so much attention to him, and matt, well, i'm just hating what hes doing with the bands sound...it just don't sound like it should....it's sad cos i feel all the vibes are gone. the backing vocals did also great job...and i think that's all....sorry for the long revoew..i hope you enjoy reading it and don't get bored....
