Bloc Party
I really liked hearing their song "Banquet" on the radio, so I bought their album "Silent Alarm" and was really impressed! The album is solid top to bottom, but the album has the approach I think Jamiroquai is lacking on a lot of their albums:
It gets stronger as the album goes on. I think songs 8-14 are the best on the album (my personal favorite so far is song #8: "Pioneers"). I think this is where our favorite band Jamiroquai has fallen short on most if not all of their albums: They are so power packed at the beginning, but almost to the point where the content towards the end of the albums can't hold up their end of the bargain.
But what are your guys' opinions about Bloc Party, their album, and my Jamiroquai argument? _________________ Wouldn't 'ya like... To walk the sunny avenues of life? |

I will add this point though:
I think "Dynamite" is nicely balanced from top to bottom, maybe their best effort in having good, solid songs all the way through to the end. Im sayin it's balanced well. _________________ Wouldn't 'ya like... To walk the sunny avenues of life? |

i don't think jamiroquai have so much songs to fill an album, i think all songs are better than average of other artists, if you talk about hits, it's true what you say about previous albums, and not in this last one _________________

think about this: if they changed the order of the track-listing, then this comment still would not be valid. i love the back half of TWM more than the front, same with EOPE, TROTSC and Dynamite. |

Pietro,
I respect your opinion, but I completely disagree with you on TWM. I think the first 5-6 songs on that album are the bomb, and it weakens after. Im not saying the songs on the latter half of the album suck, it's just they don't live up to the first 5-6 in my opinion. I guess what makes me biased, are that fact that Im not a big fan of the "instrumental only" Jamiroquai songs. I like it when Jay sings on them lol. Peace!
If y'all go to the link, they give you a free download of the song "Banquet". You just have to scroll down to the "Free Download" section of the page, and you'll see the link.

I guess what I consider to be a good album is one that you can just play all the way through, and you don't have to skip too many songs. This album the only one I consider skipping is song #3, but I forget the name. I think even song 3 is tolerable though. _________________ Wouldn't 'ya like... To walk the sunny avenues of life? |

Well, I haven't got the album, but from what I've heard, they are great, I really like Banquet and Helicopter. I'll probably buy Silent Alarm when I have money. _________________ Fascist.

It's an album definately worth having a look at... I'm quite traumatised that at this moment 5/9 people haven't even heard of them!!! |

God damnit!
I found out when looking at the Filmore website for the supposed upcoming Denver Jamiroquai gig, that Bloc Party is on tour. They aren't playing Minneapolis though!!!! GGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Minneapolis is a big city! It's not NY, but it's a major U.S. city!. But it misses a lot of good gigs and good bands who decide not to play the town for some reason! It will probably be the same crap for Jamiroquai! Why must I always commute to Chicago! Damnit! Sorry... Just venting _________________ Wouldn't 'ya like... To walk the sunny avenues of life? |
