Pics, review gig Hamburg 18th Sept. 2005
Hi friends,
3.00 in the morning and I am back from the great Hamburg gig. Still excited....but also a bit tired. I will give you infos so pieces by pieces....
Here first some short news:
- we made it to the front row
- we met Miss Mary and her girl friend from Denmark, Cosmic Mouse, Cosmic bear and Meikes Aupair girl
- Jay was a bit handicapped. They had a kind of accident back from the Lille concert on the bus and he cut his right hand and wrist. He had to go to hospital in Hamburg and was sewed with seven stiches. So his hand and wrist was bandaged, and he surely suffered some pain. Still he gave his best, and tried to do the show as best as he could. Of course he could not show all his good dance moves, especially at the start he seemed to have a lot of pain, trying to hold up his injured hand...
- the setlist is already online here by funkmaster. Thanks to Cosmic mouse sending it already during the concert. See: http://www.jamirotalk.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3835
Now I am uploading some pics I took _________________

Personal REVIEW HAMBURG, 18th September 2005
Hi friends,
I was picking up my 18 year old niece Lisa at 11.30 in Bremen for the car drive to Hamburg.
On the way to Hamburg I am playing the older Jamiroquai albums, to give her an insight on the older stuff.
At late lunch we arrive in Hamburg. The weather is sunny and fine. We circle a bit around the Color line arena, but still none of the parking places is open. So we park some streets away and take the train into town to eat and look around.
Around 16.30 we are back at the gig location. Only a few people are already there. We spread our first Jamirotalk flyers and take seat right at the entrance, where a blond girl is already waiting with her girlfriend: Miss Mary from Denmark! My first jamirotalk fan meeting, hahaha. She is a nice and beautiful girl and we chat while we are waiting. I am sure she will place a comment here too, when she is back in Denmark.
I am feeling kind of crazy in my fan outfit. I put all my collected key chains on a necklace, hahaha.
Entrance opens nearly as announced at 18.00 and after a short body check we are luckily inside. I am happy, they have not found my digital camera!
Inside we have to queue up again before the door to the ground area. But that’s Ok, it is warm inside and we can visit the loo, hehehe-
A lot of Sony Ericsson promoters are walking around, letting us see the new handy, check the sound and giving us free sony/Jamiroquai neckholders and postcards.
We have to wait until 18.30 until the inner hall door opens. We are among the first people and take a “Speedy Gonzales trip” to reach the stage. And we made it: First row left, nearly in the middle of the stage.
Now an awful long wait again begins….the played music is really annoying, some kind of techno with noises inside as if a duck is quacking and this repeats on an on. I have the feeling this awful song is repeating again and again.
Around 20.30 music changes. We are astonished, no opener band!!! They have instead a DJ there, he was not even announced, so I don’t know his name. But forget about him. His music in the first part was not much better, mostly reggae…Only two good songs, some cover of Sunny and another song from Stevie Wonder.
Some guy of the hall announces that Jay injured his hand and wrist (see info above) and is handicapped, but will let us know, that he is still trying to do the show and give his best.
A bit past nine the concert starts finally. Enter the dragon…..(see Cosmic mouse setlist for further infos).
The band seems to be in good mood. Matt is looking great, although has a strange hairstyling, hahaha, all hair comed from back to front…Rob looking good as always and Sola and Derrick in good mood too like Paul.
The sound is a bit confused at first, I have difficulties to hear Jays voice clearly and the single instruments. But after some songs my ears adjusted and it was clearly great!!!!
Jay seems to suffer a lot at the beginning from his injury. He could only hold the micro with his left hand trying to hold up the right injured hand to reduce the pain. He made some dance moves during the concerts and a few jumps, but could not do too much…
The audience is fanatic, at first at our long wait, we had the feeling, that there will be not so many people, but at the concert start the hall is packed, only the seats in the behind rows of the hall are not crowded.
Jay is making some jokes about hard core fans that are still here from the start of the band and that he is proud of that. He jokes too about his injury and let us know that we don’t have to be afraid, that he tried to commit suicide, when he cut his hand and wrist.
During the concert we got also a longer speech about George W. Bush and Irak and the nonsense of war before playing Don’t give hate a chance.
The crowd responded very well to the old and new songs. I was astonished to hear that they all sang along to Seven Sunny Days in June and even Dynamite!!!...which is not yet as single on market here.
All new songs were performed really good and Paul Turner is doing a real good job on bass.
Rob was perfect as always, ever smiling and enjoying and Sola was doing a really great percussion.
Sorry I can not give you insights on every played songs…I was dancing most through all of the concert.
I did not meet Cosmic Mouse and Bear before the gig, but they sent me SMS that they are arrived and we met after the gig for a short photoshooting. It was a pity that we could not talk longer, but Meike and Cosmic Bear had entry to the aftershow party and had to speed up right after the concert.
I hope we will soon hear their concert reviews and may be some highlights from the party or meeting the band.
Hope you enjoyed my review _________________

I forgot to tell!
Nearly the whole show was professional filmed! They had a fixed rolling camera over whole front of stage So they made a professional film. And some free camera man on stage who took free shots especially of the band members, like Rob and Matt, when they were playing solos!
Don't know if this should be was made from a local tv station. Still have not found anything _________________

Aftershow pictures
CosmicMouse, Rob and CosmicBear after the Hamburg concert.
As you can see, I have made a little present to all bandmembers - in the name of all Jamirotalkers!! They got a pink shirt with blue jamirotalk.net print on the front, and on the back there are all names of the active jamirotalk.net members who have posted messages at the forum in the last years. YES!! All yor names are on it!! And I sent greetings from the whole community to the bandmembers.
detail: Jamirotalk.net Shirt from Rob
Please stay tuned for the whole story and concert review from me in the next days. (Still busy with ill kids here... )
