Didgeridoos on new Page & Plant DVD release!!!
buffaloman_R Hello, buffaloman_R

Very Happy I was so happy to FINALLY see Jimmy Page & Robert Plant's Epic 1995 concert called "Unledded" finally be released on DVD yesterday Very Happy! If your not familiar with them, Jimmy Page was the lead guitarist & Robert Plant was the lead singer in the British Rock Group "Led Zeppelin", they have both done 2 albums together ever since Zeppelin broke up after John Bonham's death, 1995 "Unledded" and the Grammy winning 1998's "Walking Into Clarksdale". But I digress, in the bonus features of the DVD, there's a classic 1998 American Music Awards performance of "Black Dog". But what makes this performance so nice is that there are 2 Didgeridoo players in the band playing along, this really gave "Black Dog" a nice rustic aura to it. If you want to see this, pick up the new Page & Plant "Unledded" DVD today, by the way, the concert itself is AWESOME and very MEMERIZING!! Thanks for listening and Peace!

Sincerely,
JamiroFan2000

Hello, just thought I'd mention that I was one of the two didj players on that DVD, along with my musical colleague Storme (the one that looks a bit like Jesus and starts it off !)
What a day that was, such a laugh. I met up with Jimmy Page recently, he is well into this Brazilian street-kids charity called ABC at the moment.
Oh well, nice to be noticed...much appreciated.
All the best,
Sandy

buffaloman_R Hello again, buffaloman_R

Very Happy HOW INCREDIBLY COOL...Welcome to JamiroTalk Sandy, hope you have a great time here Very Happy. By the way, if you don't mind and have the time, could you go into more detail of what it was like to play with Page & Plant? Also, how long you been playing the yiddaki and what are your favorite songs to play? What other musical artists have you performed with? Wink Thanks for the reply mate, really a honor to have a musician like you on Talk Wink! Peace!

Sincerely,
JamiroFan2000

Hi,

I'm going to have to start this with my quote, and it's a bit x-rated.
This is what Jimmy Page said to me the day I first met him (and Robert Plant):

"I bet you didn't expect us to be such a pair of fat old cunts!"

Robert Plant was very friendly, but (IMO) a bit aloof, Jimmy was far more approachable and easy to talk to...simply put, he's a lovely guy.

I tried out with P&P for the MTV Unplugged session around 1994, they wanted me to play didj on "Friends", I jammed it with them -JP strumming an acoustic guitar, Plant patting away gently on a djembe drum...sadly, despite my efforts, it didn't happen.

I am used to playing live in front of bigish audiences, so when we did the "Black Dog" American Music Award session, our "audience" of technicians, camera people, management and friends was nothing. The only daunting thought was that the resulting video was to be shown to a worldwide audience of about 65 million the next day!

So who else have I worked with? Rolf Harris (australian light entertainment guru -more famous in UK/Aus) and Jon Anderson (from Yes). Most of my session work is with wonderful underground acts you probably won't have heard of (Baka Beyond, Kangaroo Moon, Kora Colours, Hiroki Okano) but I play Glastonbury every year.

I have to say, there IS a connection between myself and this forum, I played (by request from Rolf Harris) at a gig called "White Cockatoo Aboriginal Corroboree" In London England in 1998 (Deepest respect and RIP to David Blanasi).
I believe Wallace Buchanan was scheduled to perform there -i can't remember if he did. (apologies/respect to you Wallace ...my memory is a bit clouded).

All the best to you
Sandy
