An abandoned site
Hello Jamirotalkers,
I've been feeling kind of strange this last few days on this site. Don't get me wrong, I won't go or anything, but I feel that is not as active as it used to be... having in mind we're in the middle of the album launch (3rd single coming) and with lots of tour dates announced. So... I feel the site is "abandoned"... some of us tried to revive old topics, making new ones (like Yvie), but still, everything is dead.
I wanted to know why.

Hey guys!
I feel bad for not having posted for such a long time. The truth is, for me, my job has taken priority over many things. I very rarely have the time (or energy) to sit and gather my thoughts together, let alone, come online! I'm sorry if you thought I'd forgotten you...I haven't!
I hope you're all well and that we'll talk soon.

A problem also is the launch of the Jamirox site. It might not be meant to be "competition", but seriously it is. This site got rid of the some of the problematic users that ended up plaguing this site, but it also gor rid of a few others too unfrotuanetly. If it means anything, Im still here and plan to be for a long time. Peace! _________________ Wouldn't 'ya like... To walk the sunny avenues of life? |

Hi Diego,
I don't think this site is abandoned. It always had calmer and busier times. When I check in I always use the button "view posts since last vistit" and if I log in only once a day, there are mostly between 20 and 40 new posts to read. This is still the average and was not more since I first registerd here.
Also a lot of people have been more active in the waiting period before the new album came out. They spent a lot of time here to share the waiting time with some friends with same interests.
Now everyone is busy hearing Dynamite, check out to get the singles, prepare for concerts etc.
But I think your feeling about the site beeing a bit lazy in the moment is true in a another view. The quality of posts is changing a bit in the moment. I think that has more than one reason:
Many people I met here in the beginning, and made friends with left to use other forum places. Discussing with friends a topic gives another feeling, than just exchanging simply facts and opinions.
We have a lot of new people registered here within the last months. That is very nice and they are all welcomed. But you still don't know them very good. Many of them come only to read the news here and rarely give any feed back. When you dig out news for this site (and you are our master of research Diego ) or when I place a long article and sit hours on a translation for the people here and people only come read and go, that is surely sometimes frustrating.
But I must commit myself that sometimes I have no time and interest myself to read all the flood of new articles and reviews, telling more or less the same.
Then many newbies ask same old questions again and again without taking care to check the former topics before. If you take time to explain you are lucky when you get a "OK", and then the topic is dead.
And like many other people here I don't have time and mood to discuss every post and every topic.
But I think we are still a Jamily there are still many good friends around
And I think this forum has a lot to offer for all of us. So let's fight the bad vibes _________________

Thanks Monisum.
Yeah, I guess so... of course, Jamirotalk will live as long as we keep staying here.
But ok, I'm gonna keep with the sentence 'calmer and busier times', that doesn't sound as depressing as 'abandoned' .

I haven't posted here for bloody ages, and I know I should, but to tell the truth I havn't really been posting anywhere besides deviantART recently.
I think the launch of JamiroX has a big part to do with the loss of lots of old jamirotalkers, it's not quite the same as it used to be.
Hopefully I'll be posting a lot more in the future, now I'm not as slack as I used to be _________________ Fascist.

Hello,
Here's my opinion about this topic.
Some fans went to other forums like JamiroX, the french forum and (maybe) the official forum. That's a pity for this one, but we'll grow again. Just give the new members some time.
About the quantity of posts: I don't think this changed much. We lost most of our Australian fellow fans who post very often, but everytime I log in on this site (twice a day or more), the list of 'posts since last visit' is as big as in the past.
About the quality of posts: I think most of the topics and discussions aren't the same quality as before. Many fans with clear opinions are gone, which is good on the one hand (there's less trouble now), but it's not so good on the other hand, because they made discussions very interesting (although some statements were on or over the edge).
I think we have to go on like we do now. Clear and very good rules, which we all have to follow. Give the new members some time to find their place here.
Maybe the moderators can discuss some probabilities to start new topics and discussions.

I don't know about that. I'll talk for me in here. I post in JamiroX, and I still post in here. I like here more than there, of course, I've been here since 2003!
But yeah, maybe you guys are right, just more or less posts.
