Hello Jamirotalkers,
Following the link in the news in funkin, 'Dynamite' has been nominated for a Pantheon Award. This is what the award is about:
Pitchfork is pleased to reveal the first round of nominees for the New Pantheon Music Prize, the brand spankin' new award created to honor the best new music bubbling just under the mainstream's radar. well... they can win... i don't know who those groups are... xD
if they were compiting with more commercial bands, the things would be difficult! but it seems to be easy _________________ This is FunkEducation, supporting the 1992-1998 Jamiroquai!!

this is a big honor and no one realizes it.
it's big because Jamiroquai's entertainment peers chose DYNAMITE to be on this list. that means one of them recognizes the talent and artistry within the album.
the reason you may not recognize the groups is because of the criteria of the albums to be even nominated. the criteria narrows it down to albums that basically didn't do well in numbers (speaking of USA only), and didn't get the respect that they deserved basically from the music industry but are wonderful albums. so unless you know about more independent or not so commercially popular groups, you may not recognize the names. you can read up more about this on the new pantheon website.
jamiroquai has to survive the second cut, which the list is narrowed down to 10. although i love the album, it's up against some great competition. fiona apple's extraordinary machine being one of them (i saw her in concert last night..wonderful) and many other albums on this list that are fabulous and i have many of...mf doom, danger doom, damien marley, amadou..i could go on and on and on...
this award isn't for the radio listeners, MTV/BET/VH1 watchers - this award if for those the quest to go deeper than the norm, and this award recognizes and respects the artists that do that.
it's nice to see an award set up for this.... |

Well it's a massive list and I think Jamiroquai will do well just get onto the shortlist. As Vibingirl said, alot of these artists are below the mainstream radar but there is some seriously quality acts - Rosin Murphy bein one of my other faves.
Good luck Dynamite is all I can say |

I do realize that. There are a few known names there, and 'Dynamite' is good enough to win I think. Read that one of the people who votes, Elton John, if I'm not mistaken he respects Jay Kay and likes the music of the band (they were gonna performance together once, I don't know what happened with that. And I also read Elton was gonna be Jay's manager, someone correct me if I'm wrong).

it's cool about not knowing about it
first of all, it's a new award. it spins off of the Billboard Shortlist Music Awards, which have been running for about 4 years. One of the guys that did that branched out on his own to do this, but with the same concept.
and, as i said unless you listen or are in the world of music that doesn't fit the mold, you wouldn't hear about these type of awards that honor creativity. they aren't on MTV, BET, VH1 and other 'mainstream' outlets.
now you know about it and try to spread the world. people need to realize their options when it comes to music, that there is more than Britney and Usher and Madonna out there.
and i think the second cut was supposed to be today or sometime this week. when i know or if anyone else finds out, let us know. |

I don´t think we´re winning.
Kaiser Chiefs - Employment and Kasabian - Kasabian are by far better than Dynamite, just to name a couple of them. |

Updating you
Just an update: New Pantheon revealed the finalists today and Jamiroquai didn't make it. The competition was tough. They also revealed each entertainers list and it was the lovely Ms. Suzanne Vega (remember her from the late 80's? She had that song..'my name is luka, i live on the second floor, i live upstairs from you' - great song) that nominated Jamiroquai: http://www.newpantheon.net/noms/nomination.php?id=310
Here is the finalist list: http://www.newpantheon.net/finals/
Fiona Apple made it which I am happy about. She's a bit angry, but her emotion gets me. I love her! That album and her live performance are both phenomenal. And to think..it was her FANS that got that album released (Sony shelved it as 'unmarketable' in 2003) and made her come out of hibernation (www.freefiona.com). After the SONY mess..she quit . Never underestimate the power of your voice people!
Anyway...there's still the Grammy's... |

Hello again,
Little sidenote: Hope all fans worldwide had a nice Christmas, Kwanza and a continuing Hanukkah ! Anyway, when you think about it, it is true, in agreement with the consensus of fans, the odds of Jamiroquai winning this new award with such a EXPANSIVE nomination list was pretty impossible. But it was nice some of those musical judges would remember Jamiroquai enough to nominate them . Still, we got the Grammys coming up in Feb., so let's hope for a win there.....and a ritual onstage burning of the Black Eyed Peas....hehe! Thanks for listening and Peace!
Sincerely,
JamiroFan2000 _________________
