Concert sound quality
After noticing myself during the concert in Rotterdam last friday, I read a topic on the official Jamiroquai forum (http://bb.jamiroquai.com/viewtopic.php?t=2401) about the bad sound quality during the Jamiroquai concerts. It seems that's a big problem.
What do you think about it? _________________

In Bercy I didn't hear any problems with sound:)
Just one complaint, I've been standing close to bass..how is it called..column and when it came to Deeper underground I've had to "close" my ears:) I thoung I'd become daft:))) |

in my case the sound was very very good, although other jami concerts i been was just like listening to a live album
the only problem on this one was also the megasupaloud bass, i was just in front of the speakers, and the bass in revolution was really an experience, you could feel all your body and head exploding...or inploding...who knows...it was mad! and deeper underground was just louder, i also had to put my hands in the hears, it was incredible _________________

My first Jamiroquai gig was Clapham. The sound was not loud enough for me, although the quality was good. I didn't seem to asborb and interact as much as I think I usually do at live performances. I think I was awe-struck, and this is extremely unusual for me, but this occasion was sacred and I sacrificed a lot for it.
Birmingham was good all around, the quality and sound level, and Jan being with me again was just fantastic.
Dublin was the best, the sound was loud enough for me and the quality was perfect.
At all three gigs I was front centre. My son attended all three with me, and my daughter attended B'ham and Dublin. They all agree with me that Dublin was the best.
And I mean no offence to anyone when I say this, but the crowd response at Dublin was best as well, probably because they majority of attendees were European and not from the 'cold' British Isles.
'Sir' JK had more confidence and energy at Dublin, and the whole performance was more polished and flowing at Dublin.
. . . the luck of the Irish !!! LOL !!! |

just only love blind... sounds.. confusing...tooo loud... rob´s gituar.. to much.. in the forground.. you sometimes couldn´t here the background singers but the other songs.. had been in a great..sound quality..
even though jay seemed to have some problems with the sound.. you could see him 2 or 3 times pointing at the boxes.. _________________

I have to agree with you Mrs. Moon. On reflection the beginning of Love Blind wasn't that good. I am not that fond of that track either, so that compounds it. |

Sorry mrsmoon !!!
OK then who is who. Are you the mrsmoon who used to post on JTALK back in the 'golden days' (ROFLMPAO) ???
Of course you are, unless the person with the similar name is also from Germany.
When I first registered here I discovered that there already was a Little H on this site, so I had to option for Little H - KSA, denoting where I am posting from (99.99% of the time).
Good viiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiibes mrsmoon, one of my faves is the track Mr. Moon. But Little L is not one of my favourites, it just fits me with the name because my father calls me Little H.

Don't know where my nick exactly came from, I made it up so I could use the same one every time, but I can't remember how I came to 'Kezzi' |

I was @ the Rotterdam concert as well. I stood in the center of the arena (left of the camera) and the sound quality was not good . Jay's voice and the girls was hardly coming through and it was all a bit too soft. But later on the sound became a little better as I can recall it, but not good enough.
This was my third show of Jamiroquai in Ahoy Rotterdam and 2 out of 3 shows had bad sound. First time I had seats on the left of the stage (first ring) and it was not good. The second time I stood almost in front in the center (15 meters from Jay I think) and the sound was much better.
I think the best location is where I stood in the second show.
I still enjoyed every minute of it off course!! I always get so hyped up after a Jamiroquai show. I remember I came from work, very tired and I went to the show. Afterwards I was so hyped up people asked me whether I had taken drugs or not (answer=not) |

Hi,
Nice topic.
In Rotterdam I was 'sitting' high in the back. Nice view, I enjoyed the lightshow from there. But it was annoying that there were many problems with the sound. As mentioned before, the same troubles seem to appear in Brussels, but I heard that it was going like that every concert. Jay giving signs, walking off the stage, etc.
For myself the sound was good in Rotterdam, but as Quaiongen says not every moment. Sometimes we couldn't hear the backgroundsingers or the piano.
In Brussels the sound was way better, but there were some little troubles too. The quality of this gig was very acceptable for me.
Overall it was not that bad, but maybe less good than the previous concerts I went in 1999 and 2001. I must say that the soundquality of Rotterdam 1999 was excellent!
Hoping the band will improve the coming months and years.
Jeroen. |

I don't want to drift from the title of this thread, but as mentioned in the post prior about the light show, I want to add to it.
I did three gigs in the front row each time. And not once in any part of the show was I able to appreciate the light show. I think it was because I was too busy focusing on just the individual members of the band the whole time, apart from the odd bit of photography.
I read on the tour blog, I am sure it was Rob who said about how the people at the back reacted to the effects in the light show. It's because us poor buggers in the front could not focus on the compounded projection.
It has only been since I have started to review my videos that I have been able to visualize the light show. Then again, I am hoping that I will be able to partake fully of this pleasure in the official DVD of the tour. |
