Cosmic Girl - Well known woman in video
I have been reading up on Jamiroquai and found on the funkin.com website that in the video for Cosmic Girl there is a well known woman that appears with it. I remember hearing about it but can't remember who it was or if they said who it was. Can anyone help? Also does anyone know any facts about the band, ones that not many people would know?

According to a teletext report on 5 December 1996, Jamiroquai are teasing fans by refusing to reveal the identity of the "very well-known" woman who plays the title role in their latest video Cosmic Girl. Singer Jason Kay even insisted the technicians, who worked on the video shoot in Spain, sign a gagging order to keep the star's name secret. Says the band's spokesman Dave Wolff - "Jay might reveal Cosmic Girl's identity in the next video - then again he might keep you guessing for years!" |

there's a girl driving the black ferrari 355... when the song says "like some baby barbarella" this is what is being shot by the camera
and also during all the video she's chased by the diablo and the f40

Well, Abou is right. Not all the people in the vid are bandmembers. The Lamborgini Diablo and Ferrari F40 are driven by bandmembers, but the F355 is driven by somebody else. You can see (although very difficult) it's someone with long hair (and it's no Jay  ) in the shot Abou mentioned.
And it makes sense that's a girl, because that's the subject of Cosmic Girl. If you pay some attention to the vid, you'll notice Jay and his fellow bandmembers are persuiting the black Ferrari, trying to catch the girl (maybe to ask her number ). But unfortunately, in the end the girl disappears (in the scene with all the sparks)...
So enough reasons to think there's a girl in this vid, but still no answer to the question: who was she?

Once on MTV, but just once, I saw a different version of Cosmic Girl video, perhaps it is the "Version 3" I have seen mentioned at some places around the forums and websites. Perhaps it was some sort of remix made by the tv station or whatever, I don't know because it was so long ago and I also only remember only two differences without much detail.
- during a scene where you see a curve and one or two cars passing by, a somebody appears lying right accross the whole roadway for a second or two, just that. The person appears for a second and then disappears in the same scene.
- towards the end of the video where I think jay switches the car or something like that, he opens a car door and takes has a packet of cards in his hand. On the packet there is a drawing of some sort of girl.
Weird.

this is so mysterious, the song and the video oviously shw the band trying to catch that cosmic girl on the black f355, at the last shoot, you can see somebody walking out the car against sun, i always though it's wallis buchanan and not a girl, but apparently is not, theres also that rumour about a 3rd version of cosmic girl video, and apparently somebody have seen it, i don't know why that much secret around this thing....

maybe we need find info in the production date of the video...now the video have more sense to me than before...
and iif that happen in the video, why jay go to the ferrari f355 and you dont see another person in the car...or im wrong?

Notice the drivers door is open when Jay approaches the car...
But don't ask me why he takes the car and drives away (although maybe I would do the same when there's a black Ferrari F355 left alone on the road )

hey! i never noticed the 'extra' driver in the video - i had always thought the video was about the gang getting a rush from meandering dangerously around cliff roads. 
no point in keeping 'very well-known' woman a secret, since we can't see her face anyway. if anyone asked him, would jay ever reveal y'think? |

well, i must say, at least on the normal version and jays version there is no any girl there, maybe she appears in that special edition of the vid we never seen.
But theres something extrange on the vid anyway:
at the beggining you see jay, derrick,toby and stu, and also a rasta man against the sun, wich i truly believe is wallis, then you only see the first four going to the car when the f355 appears (the black one)
jay and stu enter the diablo (purple) and toby and derrick into the f40 (red)....so where is wallis????
then at the end of the video you see the black ferrari stoping, then again the black rastaman walking against the sun, and i again think is wallis, then jay goes into the empty car and goes away......so the only think i can think is that wallis is the one driving the f355
