*For Real Jazz Lovers*
I love when I come across dope music and love to share it. I stumbled across this on Okayplayer and am really, really diggin' it. I downloaded one of the radio shows. If you dig real jazz, definitely check this out.

Official site: http://www.beyondjazz.net/:

Beyondjazz is an online future jazz community. Our main focus is a website, Beyondjazz.net, which holds zillions of interviews, profiles, reviews, playlists, charts and more. With 2700+ registered members and more than a thousand visits a day, www.beyondjazz.net has in less than 2 years become one of the must-visit sites for any music lover with a passion for sophisticated beats & soulful melodies.

Next to that there’s the weekly 2hour Beyondjazz.Radioshow (available on the internet through live streaming as well as on demand and broadcasted on Urgent.fm in the area of Gent, Belgium), there’s the Beyondjazz.Parties, the Beyondjazz.Dj-team and Beyondjazz.Productions putting out fresh music by new and upcoming kids.

Doing what we do, we already got some good support and sweet shouts from a number of the scene's big players.

Here is a download to one of their radio shows, as well as their best of 2006 list. The broadcast is good music to listen to and unwind. Enjoy Smile

For Piano and Jazz Lovers
more stuff. happy you guys enjoyed that!

*Robert Glasper*

I got the promo in and didn't really pay attention to any other song, but the JDilla tribute, but today while working on some stuff, my IPOD shuffled to 3 of the songs from RG's new album and the piano playing is just unbelievable.

It's very relaxing and beautiful to me. He is trying to bring hip-hop to the jazzheads and jazz to the hip-hop heads....You can here 3 tracks here:

Scroll to the jukebox at the bottom. Listen to G&B first. He mixes Herbie Hancock and Radiohead on one of the tracks too.
http://www.giantstep.net/releases/1329/

More about him:

The release of pianist Robert Glasper’s major label debut ‘Canvas’ in 2005 signaled the arrival of a singular new voice in jazz. Robert Glasper’s piano trio, consisting of Vicente Archer on bass and Damion Reid on drums, have received wide critical acclaim from both the jazz and mainstream press. The recipient of multiple awards, from Downbeat to Time Magazine, Glasper has the unique ability to combine improvisational and technical skill with accessible melodies, tumultuous beats and bright lyricism placing him in lineage with jazz icons Herbie Hancock and Chick Corea. On the strength of all this public acclaim, Glasper opted to follow up ‘Canvas’ with an unadorned trio document. The starkly beautiful ‘In My Element’ is the result.

‘In My Element’ includes seven new Glasper original compositions, as well as a tribute to the late, great hip-hop producer J Dilla and a mash up of Herbie Hancock’s “Maiden Voyage” with Radiohead's, “Everything In Its Right Place.” At the close of nearly every piece, Glasper follows a typically hip-hop tradition by placing interludes to set up the stage for the next tune. These segues create a sense of mystery and flow beyond the individual song, just another example of Glasper’s rare ability to mesh the jazz and hip-hop world together. As deeply involved in the hip-hop world as Glasper is- he’s worked with Mos Def, Common, Talib Kweli, the Roots, Slum Village and more- he is clearly a diligent student of the jazz piano tradition. Glasper is determined to bring his generation into checking out jazz in a whole new light. Hip-hop, gospel and jazz fans, take note.
