While i'm here................
There is a topic that is quite close to my heart that was bought up in Jamiroquai.(spit)com that i thought i might share with you all. A , supposed, jamy fam bought up the topic 'Why us, and why whales?'....he goes on to say.....'I come from the Faroe Islands, and I´ve heard somewhere that J (the band) tried to boycot us for killing whales. But we don´t kill kill whales that are threatened to be extinct at all. And we use everything on the whale to eat. I mean if they where vegetarians, I would understand their point. Can anyony tell me me why they would hate us for that. Can anyone please contact me about this issue? Maybe JK himself?

bjartur@kallnet.fo '........well........I answered with......... 'I belong to the Enviromental Investigation Agency (E.I.A.) and have been campaigning against and raising thousands of pounds for the Pilot whale campaign to try and stop the Faroe Islanders to stop killing not only Pilot whales but Dolphins aswell. The Faroe islanders have for many years now been killing these beautiful creatures for many years now and they say it is their tradition and they should be allowed to eat them if they want. First of all....traditions die in the and when they become outdated....as this one and hunting with dogs has in the U.K. they should die. Secondly the whales and dolphins that are caught are so laced with mercury that consumption causes birth defects and that has happened. Also over 2 thirds of the whale/dolphin meat is thrown away as there is so much. I have vidoe proof of skip loads just dumped. I have in my possesion videos of boats going out to meet a passing pod of pilot whales and dolphins and rounding them up into a bay. The Faroe islanders then get in their small boats and use a 1 foot long hook called a gaffe to smash down into these beautiful mammals and pull them near to the boats. when they are within reach they cut into the neck of the animal.....all the way round down to the back bone and they thrash about in so much pain that they break their own backs.....that is the only way they die. I have this on video where entire pods....anything up to 40 whales or dolphins, many pods totalling maybe a thousand or more each year....are killed in a sea of blood. I have a photo of a young Faroe islander happily holding up a pheotus of a dead pilot whale. It makes me cry every time i see it and will continue to raise money at every Dive show exhibition in the U.K.. The gaffe is the most barbaric weapon as the animal is suffering the most then and is in as much pain as any of you can imagine. Don't buy Faroese fish. The Faroe islanders make most of their money from fishing and lots have nice 4x4s. Some of the E.I.A. investigators have been physically attacked......i have video proof of this aswell.....and are now not allowed anywhere near the islands. I am glad you raised this issue and it has allowed me to make a point that i wouldn't usually have just posted in a forum like this. Richard..................................Just as a post script..............It was back in '90 i think when i heard on the radio that that afternoon Jamiroquai would be appearing in sloan square in london ........so i took the afternoon off work went down there to find a demonstration outside the Danish embassy(the Faroe islands are under Danish juristiction) by the E.I.A against the Pilot whale and dolphin slaughter. Jamiroquai arrived on the back of an articulated lorry and pulled down one side of and just started playing(i still have some great photos). they were eventually moved allong and had all their instruments confiscated. This was unfortunate because they were supposed to play a gig at the Subterannia that night and were handing out flyers. It was also a good thing because instead of playing a gig they just mingled with the crowd and i managed to sit with Jay for about 1/2 an hour chatting and smoking one of his joints. The reason i mention this is because this is where i met the E.I.A. and i have helped to raise about £20,000 for them to help with the causre. My thanks go out to Jay Kay and co for highlighting this for me. Richard (darthbuzz@gmail.com)
