Hi all!
the first time i was watching them or heard them was, when a friend of mine borrowed me the live dvd from verona...(he was so shocked that i didn´t knew them since this moment "WHAT U DON`T KNOW JAMIROQUAI!!!!!)
i put it in my pc and watched it....i watched it again.... the music, the singer, the rain.. the people.. i couldn´t believe my eyes..so i watched it again....i recognised the band members brilliance..rob, sola,....listened exactly to what jay said between the songs....i watched it again...such a funny guy i though after being able to translate it...i watched only my favourites..u know bad girls and corner of the earth at first,...but then i discovered each song...i watched it again....
after one week watching this dvd 3 times a day i had to give it back...the day after i went to the shop , bought this dvd +every album....since this i am addicted... no day without jamiroquai..it´s a musicmiracle,....i could go on like this but

the first time I heard jamiroquai was in 1997, with the song Cosmic Girl... i heard on the radio... but in that time i was a 10 year old kid, and there was no way for me to buy their album, even to know who they were... 6 years later i bought A Funk Odyssey, and i started to buy the older albums.... when i bought Travelling Without Moving, i found again the song i love for all these years!! _________________ This is FunkEducation, supporting the 1992-1998 Jamiroquai!!

Ah My story is so known! I told it lots of times! I remember seeing the videos of 'Deeper Underground' and 'Canned Heat', I was 12 and 13 years old by that time, so I was just starting to watch MTV and Much Music (and The Box too!). But when I saw and heard 'Supersonic', it blew my mind!!! 'Synkronized' was the first CD I bought.
Now, between my father and I, we have almost 1000 CD's and a pile of LP's and cassettes We like music very much.
After that, I bought all their records, and the first single was, obviously, 'Supersonic'.

ok... i try to make it short... ´cause it´s quite a long story...
well, i remember that i saw the first video from them it was "blow your mind"... my thoughts were: hmm.. music cool.. but who the hell is this 70´s revival man.....
next video i saw was: spacecowboy... i loved it sooooo muuch.... and i wanted to buy an album from them... but at that time ( i had been around 22 or somethings) i had been fed up with albums / cd was a quite new media ... i started working at that time so money was worthful and every cd i bought at that time wasn´t good... so i didn´t want to risk another " mistake".... i bought a compilation cd ...called "cool vibes" just because of jamiroquai there had been 2 songs from them :/ too young to die and emergency on planet earth... ohh i really fell in love with that songs... but i thought hmm.. one hit wonder...
then there had beenseveral years i didn´t listen to music that much.. got married ... got a child.... but then when I was 31 ... i had been to my brother´s birthday... he put on : a funk odysee... there i remembered jamiroquai.. and i borrowed this cd and the eope album he also had... and i remember the feeelingggg which i got ... listining to the albums... ufffff.. i flew onto the clouds. .. it really was like a flesh into my soul!!!! deep deep ...deeper...
of course the weeks later after knowing both albums i bought the others..and till that time...i think that jamiroquai is the best band of the world... the one and only for me ..
i even went completely into another world of music...i recognized also stevie wonder.. roy ayers... curtis mayfield... just because hearing jay talkin about them.....
thanks jamiroquai ... for your music.. love it...and hope you never gonna stop _________________

Okay:
it was in 1993 (october) and for my 18th b'day i organized a big party in a disco; i called a deejay who was just come back from London with some new english stuffs.
well, meanwhile the party was goin' on, he began to play Jamiroquai: wot the hell was that music?????
i never never heard a band called Jmq but from the 1st song i was completely kidnapped by their music: it's been the true love!
The day after i went to a record shop and i bought EOPE: that strange little man on the cover !!!! I didn't know it was the Buffalo Man! I began to listen to all the songs and readin' the texts: that young and slim man dressed with the poncho and with a big hat who wanted to save the world: the real jamiroquai.
Since then, i'm a JMQ addicted _________________

Hi, nice topic there are some stories I already know hehe
Well, I remember that early in 1999 (I was 11/12 year old) my family put "Cable tv" (the service was Multicanal), so I started watching Mtv, & Much Music. And I remember that MTV used to show the "Virtual Insanity" video all the time, and I used to say 'bah, Jamiroquai, he only does pop music', beacause I didn't know anything about music genres. But a few years later, at the end of 2003 my "music tastes" were a little fixed, hehe, I started listening to Jazz music, Stevie Wonder, etc. And then in the summer of 2004 (February) I was on hollydayswith my cousin and he was playing his bass while listening an audio cd with some of the tracks from the Live in Verona DVD. So I totally fell in love with high times, cosmic girl, and deeper underground...
A few months later (on may/june) my other cousin came to my house and brought me a cd with a lot of mp3 albums of various bands/artists, and Jamiroquai was one of those. So I listened to the Mp3's of EOPE, TROTSC, TWM & the singles (in mp3 too) of Cosmic Girl, Alright, and Space Cowboy.
I went mad then, and started searching on the net with some p2p programs for live performances
In june of this year I bought Dynamite and then I started collecting the rest of the albums and the singles or promos I hardly can find here
So now I'm here in this fantastic site talking about this super band...
P.S: Sorry for the long post.. |

Well, my story just happened half a year ago...I was bored and started watching MTV2Pop (cause it was the only channel who simply played music back then...) and when I switched the TV on and zapped to MTV2Pop, I saw the end of a video...a guy in black, with a strange strange hat, in a white room and he was sliding across the floor...I just thought WOW. Who is he? What? Ja-Mi-Ro-Quai. Hm. Never heard that before. Or have I? Then, some days later, I saw the whole video on MTV2Pop. Great...But then I forgot it again (there happened so much in my life)...Some weeks later (maybe two), I watched Viva, another music channel, and they played some love songs, and then I saw a video...and there was this guy on this bed, and then he stood up and took a hat from a plate...haha, funny guy. Who is he? What? Ja-Mi-Ro-Quai. Hm. Strange name... Anyway, I forgot it (oh dear, what happened with my brain?). Fortunately, I saw the Virtual Insanity video on MTV2Pop again, and then I looked in the Internet. Ahh, the Internet...After some days I found both videos on Mtey's site, so thanks Mtey, you helped me a lot Then in July, I bought Dynamite, and after that the other albums. But after thinking about this again, I don't think it was a coincidence...maybe it was something HIGHER? |

I remember watching MTV back in '96 or '97 when Virtual Insanity was released. Im like 99 out of every 100 U.S. people who knew and found out about this band because of this song. It was kinda funny, because that day as I was watching, it was the first time I had ever seen Ananda Lewis too.
So that day MTV introduced me to Jamiroquai, and to a hottie named Ananda Lewis. That was back in the olden days when MTV still played at least some videos during normal hours lol. _________________ Wouldn't 'ya like... To walk the sunny avenues of life? |
