Your earliest memory
My dear friend Nicola yesterday celebrated the arrival of a new little baby sister. Very Happy It got me randomly pondering - what's the earliest memory you have of your own existence?

I recollect one day when I was simmering in my pram while my dad and sister were rolling me over to see my mum, who at the time was working in a local shop. My dad was pushing the pram along and then at one point (adjacent to The Maltings pub, as i recall) my sister asked if she could help roll it along. I distinctly remember the mild jolts as i was wheeled over the cobbled bits LOL

Your turn now! Delve deep into your mind and reveal your first memory!! somersault

Honestly, I think my earliest memory was age 3 - 4.

It was of my dad ironing clothes while I played with my brother.
Or maybe it was at my grandmothers house.
I remember my parents divorce when I was 4.
I remember our parrot flying away when I was 4-5.
I remember going to dance class at 4.

There's a whole bunch of them, but I don't know what was first... Wink

my earliest memory is telling my sister to go and get me a tea towel, which my mum had asked me to get, i called her baby though she was (technically, i don't see two minutes as older) older than me, and i was told off as my mum had asked me to get it. I don't know when this was, but it's my earliest memory..

maybe if i think for some time i will get an earlier one, but right now i think it's with 2, in a little baby-bed at the hospital asking myself why i couldn't go to the srteet playground, and crying because my parents weren't allowed to be there (fucking nurses!).
i was operated for hernia.

I was about 22 months (age confirmed with my mum!) but I was def under two. It was on a family holiday & we stayed in this really cool hotel. It was one of those houses where not only is there an downstairs & an upstairs but on each level there were also steps on the landings. You'd go up a step into some of the rooms & down a step into others. I just remember thinking how cool it was & how much fun & exciting I found it!!

Another memory from the same age is getting on a train. I remeber being scared of the gap between the platform & the train even though my dad was holding my hand tightly!!

Most of my memories before the age of 10 are in hospitals, but my very very earliest one is going to stay in a house somewhere in what, due to the presence of certain Jamirotalkers, I shall call the Spanish Peninsula (southern Catalunya, I think). One of my dad's clients (he's a bank manager) had just set up a business out there.

I remember the house because the bedrooms were downstairs, and the kitchen / living-room area was upstairs.

I was talking to my mum about that memory last year and she was absolutely amazed that I could remember it - I was six or seven months old at the time!

I slipped at the top of the stairs and remember my mother screaming to my father to catch me, as I rolled down the stairs like a snowball..... Laughing

I was about 2 years old, and had a scar on my right eye for years!

That can be really very disturbing for a child! Sad

Oh dear!! Hahaha! I rolled down the staircase once as well (however i was more like a swiss roll than a snowball), although i think i was perhaps 3 at the time. For some reason it seemed quite thrilling, and once i reached the bottom i just stood up and plodded away unhurt... i was a hardy little bugger at the time Wink
Although i must say - it's very strange now to sit on the staircase and think that once upon a time i could actually lie down and fit on one of the steps Confused
