Main Vein... question!
Hi,
I'm new here, and i have a question about the song "Main Vein". Does anyone have an idea about the meaning of this line in the lyrics :"i'm flying higher than a pig in space". I've been trying to figure out what he's refering to... i had a few ideas, but i'd like to hear some more.
Thanks!!!! |

hmmmm.. pig in space eh? uh well i never really thought about that (actually i did but i just assumed it was a joke of jay's, because in some of the remixes you can hear him laugh after he says it, ya know??? )
maybe it means he's high and he's a pig, or maybe it means he's so happy he's flying, or maybe it's a metaphor of some sort. I dunno, it could be many things _________________

hmmmm..... seems highly unlikely, but i thought he was referring to Jim Henson's The Muppet Show.
Does anybody remember that reoccurring Miss Piggy skit, 'Pigs In Space' ... or is it just me??....

maybe it's connected to the phrase "if pigs could fly..." that says that something is impossible _________________

Yeeess, MissJayKay, pigs in space from the muppet show! That's exactly what I was thinking of, when I heard that phrase for the first time!

i actually read a interview where jay kay said that his song "main vain" was about journalists. he said he kinda let everything out about how he felt about them and their influence etc ... lol _________________ ~ only tears left to stain

LOL no, you are not crazy, missjaykay! at all!
actually, i'm a HUGE fan of the muppets and own about 18 hours of the original show on tape :)
i never thought of something else when listening to it. after all, jay is only a few years older than i am, and he must have watched the muppets when growing up! _________________ Dear Auntie Em. Hate you, hate Kansas, took the dog. Dorothy. x |

Just what I thought too when first reading the sentence.
"Pigs in space" used to be my favourite sketch of the muppet show.
Thank you Mouse for the picture. _________________ ?Now I've got that sunshine in my life? |

...and it was mine too But I must confess that I didn't thought of it when I heard it first in main vein. The first picture that came on my mind was a picture on an album of Pink Floyd - I don't know which album it was - Dark side of the moon ?? |

Yes, you're bloody right, Butterfly.
What was the name of this Pink Floyd album? I should start my collection of Pink Floyd again. (Wonder if the old PF album exist on CD). _________________ ?Now I've got that sunshine in my life? |
