Back in lul time now...
We now again have a lul... No touring for probably 2 months... The "new" album isn't so "new" anymore... I wonder if we'll all get restless in here like we did about a year and a half ago hehe... _________________ Wouldn't 'ya like... To walk the sunny avenues of life? |

sweetie -
2, 3, 4, 5, 6 months is NOTHING compared to 4 years: the number of years between AFO and DYNAMITE also the number of years since they toured here - 9/10/01 (NYC show) and 10/21/05 (Atlantic City Show)!! |

Hello,
HEHE...well I think I fit my fill for the "Dynamite Era" of Jamiroquai, unless another "phantom, after christmas 4th Dyna Single" comes seeping out into the warm Spring 2006 sun . Overall, I think this "era" of Jamiroquai was as equally exciting as the "EOPE" & "ROTSC" eras. Much larger communities of music fans are FINALLY getting that Jamiroquai isn't just some "run of the mill" 1 hit wonder and are spending more time delving into the past catalogue and getting what made us all die-hard fans of the group. I surmise this will be the last studio album with Sony, JK can afford a buyout of the 2 album remainder of his 8 album contract with them, start his own label and release his own stuff with the support of the band. I think one of the strengths of a INDEPENDANT Jamiroquai would be less label participation on new albums, less pressure, and more chances, with the help of Sola, spread Jamiroquai's music even further into the hot item field of "digital pay downloads". Just say JK pops into the studio one day with a hot idea of a new song, they can record and JK could pop it online for pay download as fast as you can say "Eureka"! And the fanbase would be much stronger too I feel, more closeknit and more organized, something that the Official Site Forum really needs, but remember, just my opinion. Thanks for listening and Peace!
*Toasts a mug of frothy root beer to the thought of the next million new Jamiroquai albums being OFF the Sony/BMG and on his own: Quai Records*
Sincerely,
JamiroFan2000 _________________

hahaha. that's how i felt when i thought in the chicago line that i may have been in the second or third row. i felt like a spoiled b**ch for always being in the front and getting all nervous about how long the line was in front of me. but ahhh, there was no worry, i got my spot. thank god the chicago venue staff was so unorganized! ever since those concerts though, i can't settle for seing jamiroquai anywhere besides front row. the joys of them playing small venues here!
brent, independent jamiroquai would be so nice. the creativity would boost through the roof. but unless jay owns his masters..i don't know how long that money he earned is going to last...
i'm a happy girl, just found out incognito is touring. they should do a tour with jamiroquai. then jay can borrow the horns from them! i kid. i kid.
not! |

I love the idea of Jay with his own music label, but I'd like to go to a music shop and buy my new Jamiroquai CD with its artwork with a cool Medicine Man, a booklet with the lyrics and cool designs, etc.... also a digital song (an mp3 @ 192kb/s) will be crappy quality compared with the quality of a cd... and collecting wouldn't be the same anymore...
I dream with Jay making his own music label, but releasing cd's and 12"s. |

I do believe that an independent JMQ will be fantastic. Like vibingirl said, the creativity of the band will increase. I don't know much about bands utilizing downloads, but I do know that Prince does a lot of that; it seems to be faster and easier for him, so I could see that happening with JMQ if they go independent.
What I'm trying to figure out is this--JK said that he'd get out of the Sony deal in 2006 with a 'greatest hits' album. That would be seven...personally, I'd dig a double-disc "hits/live" set; it'd be good for the fans and it'd keep JK out of a record label fight (remember, the deal's for EIGHT albums) that could turn very ugly. See George Michael. _________________ "...I feel that Jamiroquai needs to be taken to another stage now. It really does. Hate to be a hater...but...
Don't you think Jamiroquai has to end at some point? I love the band - they're by far my favorite band and will probably always be - but let's face it, the most important part of the band is falling apart. His voice is pretty trashed at this point from smoking and performance strain. How much longer do you guys think he will actually be able to sing? And please, no one say 'oh he sounds fine' 'his voice is maturing' etc...his voice matured a long time ago and has just gone to shit noticably as of late. So hoarse and guttural, with such a limited range (probably 1 octave or less, whereas it used to be two, if not close to three). For instance, I was listening to a performance of Space Cowboy from 1994 then the next song was Space Cowboy from a recent concert..startling difference. Horrible change, really. And it's not just that song either..it's all of them. He initially became notable and famous probably because he had such a unique and full, soulful voice, and now it's really nothing to talk about. Well, I guess there's some future as a rock singer..no more Stillnesses in Times though, I'm afraid.
But then again, maybe he'll stop smoking .. |

with the cancellation of the 2006 south america dates and the band going through a "depression"...
you aren't being a hater at all..i think that what you say has a lot of truth to it. it's like you hate to speak like that or think like that, but truth is truth.
when we were in new york, friends and i were discussing this and how many more line ups changes can the band go through? how many decline in sales can they take? we love them, we are loyal..but who knows..
jay seemed so jaded in new york, and after all the articles came out, we knew that something was up like he was really tired of putting on this fake face. i watched him backstage as person after person approached him and it was very false. my friend and both noticed how he was acting, like he was totally over it all. he was tired then. people scrambled to talk to him and although he was very kind and generous (afterall, he gave us the passes to get back there), he seemed like he approached it all more as his job, not as his passion. that is why i just stood there and watched for awhile.
the voice thing - i notice it too. while i still dig his voice very much, it is noticeable. he is older and i think 2005 was a test to see if they could still do it and they did and they can, but i truthfully don't know about the next few years. there are bands that can tour over and over and over again and some that just get well...tired.
right now, i feel bad for the south american fans who were looking forward to the tour. i had the time of my life in new york, so if they don't come back in march, i'm okay with that. i rather them go somewhere else where they haven't been..although i'd love to see them again.
i have faith and if that isn't enough, i have memories..we'll just have to stay tuned...
life goes on and on and on and on and on and on now.... |

Deesh,
As I said before, I felt spoiled by the whole NYC experience. I already it knew it 5 days later in Chicago when that show, which was still very good, couldn't even come close to our experiences in New York. But honestly I want it again! I want it bad! I want not only to enjoy it again with you, Claudia, Diego, etc etc etc again, but I want Brent to be able be there with us as well.
If they don't come back, it's fine. I know I saw 3 amazing performances from them. But do I want it again, yes. Am I willing to go broke over them like I did 2 months ago? Yes. Ami I optimistic they are coming in March anymore? No. I think it's now just a formality of them cancelling the U.S. tour as well. I hope Im wrong, but I forsee them taking a break til summer and hittin the big stadiums and festivals in Europe in the summer. _________________ Wouldn't 'ya like... He seemed really happy to perform at the Fillmore for us, especially the first night. He was really friendly to us, and me especially for some reason (shoutout during Space Cowboy + meeting him after/taking a picture with me/giving him a joint <-there's your reason, haha). But then, I understand that living this lifestyle may have worn itself out in his mind. Everyone has to settle down at some point and recouperate. The band also, as I'm sure performing the same songs night after night, and not seeing your family has to suck. It's gotta be tiring and saps your spirit..maybe they will pursue other projects in due time and we can see them exhibit their musicianship in ways outside of the spectrum of Jamiroquai. But what will happen to Jamiroquai? Will he bring new people in in the future? The band can't be on stand-by forever. We'll see, I guess.
As for Jay, I don't think he will quit singing forever, but it may be a long while before he uses Chillington again. He's established legend status, at least in my mind. I say, greatest male vocalist of our era (90's-00). |

pete - yes.....i know i'd love it again too. and brent and pete - if they ever come to philadelphia you are more than welcomed to stay at my 2x2 shack for free!! or if they perform here, my doors are open.
robotscantadlib - they all were really friendly with us too and they loved both new york shows sincerely. i believe that was true passion that they were demonstrating on stage both nights and they talked about the shows a few time and how they were highlights for them, as they did san fran. jay was extremely wonderful with us and with me, he was real chill and because we had talked the day before and he was familiar with me a bit, he approached me on a whole different vibe and that was cool. BUT i observed how he was when people were coming up to him and kissing his ass...it was an attitude of 'i'm over this whole showbiz shit'. no doubt, he was still nice, but i could see it as could my friend that was with me. i just think he needs to take a step back and chill. i think fans are making a bigger deal of it than it is. the guys miss their families and their sanity. they just need relaxation.
greatest male vocalist of our era...hmm..gotta think about that one!
i couldn't imagine if jay had to get up every single day and work 8 hours at a job that didn't allow him to buy all the cars and big mansion and things....
yes, jamiroquai is amazing, but us everyday people are too and that's lovely...
stay tuned i say...and remember that we are all hearing this information second hand... |
