2005: top 5 LP-s of the year
heya.

i think it's about time to start summing up 2005 and composing the top 5 of albums released this year. so if you're up for it, think a bit and submit yours.
i'll post mine soon, still hesitating 'bout a couple.

peace.

Cool... let me think... (to be honest with you, I haven't heard many things from this year, I've been focusing with old stuff).

1- Jamiroquai * Dynamite
2- Moby * Hotel
3- Earth Wind & Fire * Illumination
4- Stevie Wonder * A Time To Love
5- The Chemical Brothers * Push The Button

I forget some for sure... I'm still doubting about the 5th position.

best of 2005, for me:

1. jamiroquai - dynamite
2. common - be
3. marc mac - how about a game of chess
4. roisin murphy - ruby blue
5. RSL - every preston guild

(sadly i had to leave some super good beats out, for example:
chemical brothers - push the button
soil & pimp sessions - pimp master
dwight trible - love is the answer
dwele - some kinda
etc.)

I'm a good music listener, and being honest, there hasn't been anything new worth listening this year. The only album I bought this whole year was Dynamite, and I got a bit dissapointed too, but it's the best LP this year anyway.

You need to use our top 5 lists for some sampling. I didn't think "Dynamite" was the best album of the year. I thought Bloc Party's "Silent Alarm" and Common's "Be" was head and shoulders above any other albums this year INCLUDING "DYNAMITE".

Moro - I gotta say I love your taste in music man. I pretty much agree with your selection. You don't listen to Gilles Peterson by any chance?

Narrowing it down to just five is tough...

I've got four so far...

7note Mylo: Destroy Rock & Roll
7note Madonna: Confessions on a Dancefloor
7note The Subways: Young for Eternity
7note Royksopp: The Understanding

Will think on the final one... ... ... 2scratchchin

Ufff.. That song 'You're Beautiful' IS EVERYWHERE, I'm starting to hate it. Although I haven't heard the album, and I'm not planning to.

On the other hand, 'Illumination' is currently staying a lot on my cd-player, something that doesn't usually happen with newer records. I think is a very very good album, and nice to see them back after so many years making such great music.
