The Honest Soul Of Jamie Lidell!
Hello,
Yet another AMAZING new music discovery, but I have been aware of him for sometime . German soul crooner Jamie Lidell, whom has a new album coming out in April, is absolutely amazing, melding straight forward piano forte to stellar "Curtis Mayfieldlike" vocals and a slight starlight ambience (Current Favs: Little Bit Of Feel Good, Multiply & A Little Bit More). I have been listening to his indie albums, from "Freakin' Flame" to "Multiply", and I must say, he is stunning! Be sure to check out his upcoming new album "Jim", you can hear samples of it at his MySpace ( http://www.myspace.com/jamielidell ) and dig it! Cheers!
Sincerely,
JamiroFan2000 _________________

I love "When I come around", "What's the use" and "A little bit more".
Ok actually i don't like !A little bit More" that much, but it's just stuck in my brain, the chorus endlessly repeats in my mind... |

Where you been B? He has been around for awhile. He isn't German by the way. He is from the UK and moved to Berlin a few years ago for a girl and although they broke up he ended up finding inspiration there for music and has stayed there. His album you are referring to is called 'Freakin' the Frame' and there was one in between that and 'Multiply' called 'Muddlin' Gear'. He was into electronica and production before singing, so when and if you see him live, you never know what you are going to get. Usually a mix of the two.
He is amazing. Seen about 4 of his concerts, wrote a few reviews, met him a few times...awesome!
Here is the original post on him made awhile back here: http://www.jamirotalk.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5059&highlight=jamie+lidell

He is touring in the spring/summer, and also coming out with a new album. He'll be with a full band, which he usually isn't. He is usually just a one man set up with his keys and computer equipment. I can't wait to see him in June.

You can also hear a stream of a track from the upcoming JIM album..."Figured Me Out". It actually is a remix, but I can tell I'd like the original: http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/article/download/48941-jamie-lidell-figured-me-out-la-garage-mix-stream
More news that went with this news item on Pitchfork:
Jamie-- pardon me, Jim-- Lidell has already revealed plans for a new LP, a UK single for "Little Bit of Feel Good", a mess of tour dates, and an increasingly guffaw-worthy string of promotional photographs in 2008, and the gifts just keep coming.
That up there is the artwork for Jamie's new album, Jim-- due April 28 in the UK and April 29 in the U.S. from Warp-- for your gazing pleasure. And all those numbers and cities below the jump comprise the itinerary for Jamie's spring world tour. Mr. Lidell will get real busy in Europe and the UK come April and early May, before heading to North America from late May through mid-June.
He'll have more than just a little help along the way, as his previous one-man-plus-computerz setup (as seen here) will be augmented by guitars, saxophones, keyboards and drums. A veritable full band, they call that! Despite the number of bodies onstage, expect Jamie and company to leave plenty of room for improv and experimentations in the mix. It's just his way.
In addition to Jamie's trip to the States, he'll also hit U.S. HD airwaves March 7 on Nigel Godrich's "From the Basement" show along with fellow lotharios Beck and Jarvis Cocker. _________________ www.dee34.wordpress.com |
