Vocalists
Who of us are?
This is either going to be an extremely dead thread (as in no one will
reply and I won't say shit if nobody replies, so it'll die right here, which is fine if that's how it is you know...I'm cool with it.
OR... we've got vocalists in the house.   
What genre? are you in a band? Local parties? Lead/backup? Singing at weddings?What's up?
How do vocalists break out?
Is it who you know, being in the right place at the right time,
running down the street naked singing, what?

well, all can i say about this is that, my 2 brothers are or were vocalists, my older brother studied coral, piano, harmony and all that stuff when he was young, then he did a great punk/rock band with his friends when he was around 14 writtng and singing the songs, later he joined a great rock/heavy local band singing and writting songs, he put up the band and become so known in the area, later he quit with the band and he and my middle brother formed a great funk/rock/indefinible band wich was so great, my older brother was the singer and the middle one was the bassplayer, now my older brother is working doing music studios.
my middle brother learned by his own playing guitar, bass, piano, flute.....and also to sing, he created some bands as bassplayer and singer, he composes great funky tunes and performs all the instruments in his demo's and of course, he sings.
the drummer of that first punk band, and also drummer of the band my 2 brothrs did together (lur nice) and big friend of all of us is now consider one of the bests drummer in the state, his right now touring with Jorge Drexler

hi. I'm really a drummer but I sing as a hobbie. I'm not a singer but I like singing.. I used to sing with my exband, I sometimes sing with friends... it's just a hobbie. Some people here heard me singing months ago.. I remember that Ed FunkEducation heard me singing (te acuerdas de cuando cantamos todos en el yahoo? xDD). Maybe he could contribute an opinion.... lol

I checked out Jorge Drexler. I can't read what it says or understand a word he's saying, but I love his sound and his voice. I might have to check it out some more.
You have a very musical family kaki. You don't do anything?
I'm a total vocal freak! I'd love to hear everyones voice. But, I know that's not always possible. I have a friend of a friend who's voice I'm in love with right now, nobody knows him. He sings himself and to entertain his friends, he's actually a guitarist. I have many vocalist friends, who don't know they're golden.
I'm a vocalist in a sense, but more for narrating in local indie films (speaking). I want to sing but, I'm a pussy, so I talk.
Anyone, with links to files of their vocal talent, or that of their friends, feel free to share. As soon as I figure out how to get some files linked right, I'll do the same. It might take me a minute though. (And a minute might mean tomorrow, next month, or next year, depending on many factors:D )

is true that i have a musical family wich is great, and is a shame that i don't play nothing! i always think on it, and i will always be ashamed that i never lpay any intruemnt, as a music lover it's one of my dreams, my middle brother started teaching me playing the bass (i wish to play bass), but i'm not so good with my fingers (playing instruements  ) and also i'm so vague and unconstant 
at least i'm learning myself playing didgeridoo, i have 2 cool didgeridoos and another 2 made by myself wich sounds even better than the buyed ones........but also again i need to be more constant to learn properly the continious breathing.......
about voices.....it does not have to do with singing but i'm so good in distinguishing voices, when i see the films and series in the tv i instantly know who is the voice speaking (because the films and series are traslated into spanish)

Hey, no reason to be ashamed at all. We all have different talents.
What is a didgeridoo? Sounds interesting.
I'm big on voices too, it's my fetish.~

you sang "half the man" if i'm not mistaken... and i remember it was veery good singing

oh, you were there? Don't remember, I probably didn't know you when I sang.. I don't remember if I sang Half The Man but I sang Stillness in Time.. ^^ (a capella)

Im dont consider my self a vocalist.. never studied for that anyway I do sing in my songs and my mother took singing lessons so I get some tips from her.... I play ther instruments too but this thread is called vocalists

....When u hear some genius vocalists...u don't understand @how they do it so amazin&beautiful///they voice like music instrument/but it vibrations goes from they soul-it's main key to amazing music!!!My favorites vocalistsis Ella Fitzerald,Stevie Wonder,Ray Charles,Mahalia Jackson...Early Jacksons 5

yeh, I play drums  And I also play the djembe! I have a big one here in my room and I love it It's originally made by africans. Let me show you:

I neither consider myself as a singer... but I like it. I sang a couple of songs at school in a end-of-year party, it's strange 'cause I'm a bit shy for singing, lol. If anyone heard me singin when some jamifriends and I sang in that videoconference, say something. lol.

i can't believe you are a jamiroquaifan and don't know what a didgeridoo is, maybe you know it by the name yiddaki?
it's a aboriginal instrument from australia used in the first 4 jamiroquai albums played by wallis buchanan
