Off the Wall
pleasant re-discovery: "off the wall", Michael Jackson. Fantastic record, funky from vintage years. Optimal and sparkling Rhodes, a nasal Music Man that slaps in a groovy way, the best brass section I've heard, and Mr. Jackson, than before becoming the famous "white-man-from-varechina", singing in God's style. Brilliant, to be re-listened. |

what a great damn post.
i love that album. i mean...LOVE. off the wall and can't help it are my favorites on there. i can dance all nigth to these 2 songs. i rediscovered it last year, so i can dig the feeling of what you are saying. i put this a nodge above 'thriller' actually. i have the old one and i have the remastered one.
i go to this party ever year in nyc called mj vs. prince, and they play those 2 artists all night. people go crazy when anything from off the wall comes on.
matter of fact, i'm about to play it now. ha! |

I agree with both of you. Off The Wall was the first album I ever bought when I was 9 years old , I got to know that album inside out when I was a kid.
I gotta say that I havnt listened to it for some time though - maybe I'll go and give it a re-listen tonight. |

yes this is a great album,
my favourite song is "rock with you".
it was written by songwriter from UK Rod Temperton, keyboardist from the band "heatwave".
His songwriting skills were noticed by Quincy Jones who hired him to write songs for an album he was producing for Michael Jackson.
Rod ended up writing 'Rock With You', 'Baby Be Mine', 'The Lady In My Life' and the title track of Michael's 'Off The Wall' album in 1979, together with the title song 'Thriller' of his follow-up.

Off the Wall!
No doubt for me that this is Michael Jackson's best album.
Its hard to believe listening to a lot of Jacko's later stuff that he also made Off the Wall because the difference is amazing.
A love Get on the Floor + Workin' Day and Night!!! There are some great bass lines in this album which I like to play along too. _________________ 'This is the world he wants, pray for the brave and the young...' |

incredible album! the first one in MJ's career and the first one of the dream team: Michael Jackson - Quincy Jones...
i have all his albums, and i can say it's surely the best one... nice musicians on it... my fave songs are Workin' day and night, get on the floor, don't stop 'til you get enough... amazing...
by the way, MJ seems to be trying to make something new, he's gonna release a new song for the Katrina disaster, and he's planning to make a song with Westlife... it's something cool.... _________________ This is FunkEducation, supporting the 1992-1998 Jamiroquai!!

Uooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!
Is it totally true or is a rumour? I'm not a Michael Jackson's fan in the sense of the word, but I really like his kind of music and either THE ESSENCIAL and jamiroquai are running 24 hours a day in my mp3!!
In addition, I think 'You rock my world' was a very good song in 2001, recovering his 80's successful sound and leaving his humanitarian and sentimental kind of music from last albums. I'm talking about mature lyrics, that's true, but I think it would be great to recuperate the inicial sound and find an equilibrium. However, it's only an opinion . |
