Racy team to go around world in eight days
Kiwi porn king Steve Crow and colourful Wellington property developer David Blackmore have paired up as "Team Satan" to race round the world in luxury cars.
The pair will use the names "General Debauchery" and "Major Cockup" and race under the number 666 in the Gumball Rally, in which competitors aim to race around the world in eight days.
They plan to end the race in a Mercedes 600 Pullman limousine formerly owned by Playboy magazine founder Hugh Hefner.
The final leg starts in Salt Lake City and passes through Las Vegas before finishing with a party at Hefner's Playboy mansion in Los Angeles.
"That's basically why we entered," said Blackmore, owner of Wellington's James Smith building and Plaza Chambers. "You can't buy tickets to party at the Playboy mansion."
Blackmore was in Auckland this weekend overseeing the finishing touches to a Lamborghini LM002 before it is shipped to Malaysia next week. A black Bentley Arnage Turbo adorned with devils and flames was shipped from Auckland last week for the first leg of the race, from London to Belgrade, starting on April 30.
The entry fee for the race is 40,000 ($108,000) and entrants also have to stump up the same amount again to have the vehicles airfreighted and insured.
Blackmore said they were still looking for sponsors to "take the sting" out of the fee. The 120 competitors in the rally, will also be entertained with performances by US rapper Snoop Dogg and British funk band Jamiroquai.
As well as running the Erotica Expo, Crow owns Vixen Direct, the country's largest porn distribution and production company. He publishes NZX magazine and a new conspiracy publication Uncensored.
