Jamiroquai to perform at 2006 Winter Olympics/TORINO
| Quote: |
According to a news item at the 2006 Winter Olympics website, Jamiroquai will be performing on 16 February at Piazza Castello, the medals plaza of the Olympic Winter Games in Torino, Italy as part of what organisers call the "Torino Festival".
Ticket information is as follows (from the Torino2006.org website):
"The tickets for the show, free of charge, can be collected from January 26 to February 8 from the “Vetrina per Torino” (Showcase for Torino) in piazza San Carlo 161 and the “Punto ritiro ingressi concerti Medals Plaza” (Collection point Medal Plaza concert entries) in via Garibaldi at the corner with Piazza Castello. The programme always entails the opening of the piazza at 18 (there will be strict security checks with the 36 metal detectors giving access to the area), the first concerts at 18.30, the award ceremonies between 20 and 21 e, finally, the “Celebration”, the day’s key event with live music."
Between 11 and 25 February the medals plaza will host a "show with the best stars of the international music scene."

Think about poor me... They haven't performed live here since 1999. They should have played at Globen which is a pretty big place. But ticket sales were so low that they had to play at Hovet which is a rather small place.
Since then they gave up on Sweden it seems. They came to Stockholm in 2001 and performed Little L when the radio station NRJ had a thing called Party In The Park. But I didn't go there... and I didn't consider it a proper Jamiroquai concert. It was just a promotional appearance sort of.
Back then I didn't care. Now I probably would drive to Stockholm just to see one tune. At least if it was a good tune... I wouldn't drive one single mile to see Black Devil Car, Tequila Brown or Feels Just Like It Should.
They don't seem to have many fans here... but I hope they will come back some day... even if I'm the only paying visitor. Thank God I had the opportunity to watch them live 93, 95, 97 and 99. |

Hi there
Yeah at least is something. We should have not only tour dates, but also news about the filming of the new video, don't you think? The new single should come out soon (Dynamite? or Electric Mistress?).

Noooo, FRA, really? Now I am devastated!! I already was looking how much it will cost me to get to Torino (?).. I won't go for 2 or 3 songs... Do you know this for sure?
Ok, that means waiting for other dates. FRA, will you come to Montreux, if they perform there? |

Hello,
Man that is GRRREEATT news....given the American Network's NBC's constant coverage of the Winter Olympics for what seems the past 8 years, we Americans might just see Jami on our TV ! I remember when NBC was last winter and summer Olympics, they showed ALOT of musical acts playing live, so this certainly opens the door for Jamiroquai to be shown on American TV! Man, wouldn't it rule if Jamiroquai performed Starchild on the medals stage with JK dressed up a polar bear and ending their set with a humongous snowball fight ? Sorry, silly imagination again! Thanks for listening and hope to catch a glance at Jamigoodness during the Winter Olympics coverage!
Sincerely,
JamiroFan2000 _________________

..x Francesca da LECCE (FRA):
ciao, sono Luca da Firenze (Cheeba vibe).
Posto in italiano perchè in Inglese faccio schifo.
grazie |

Okay okay
just talking with Janluka and with Enos of the jamirosite.com
The situation is really complicated and i hate when things don't go as they should
There will be a real gig
BUT
Hotels in Torino are all booked for the Olympics
In those days, probably, there will be lots of train strikes; not to talk about Alitalia, the main italian company for the national flights :S
Tickets for the gigs: well, or u r ready to take them NOW (knowing ppl there) or u have to pay € 150,00 :S
AND
Torino is about 14 hours far from me
it's very very cold there: about -10 during the nite..... _________________

I just heard the news, and I got so excited, as if I would actually be able to make it.
Lucky for you though FRA
Hope they come back my way soon!
I just read the "14 hours from me" part. Are you going to make it? _________________
