Wallis Buchanen
There was no place to talk about Wallis, so I though I'd create one here...
For those how don't know, Wallis Buchanan was with the band pretty much from the beginning. Prior to that, Wallis and Jay used to hang out and skateboard together around Boston Manor (near Ealing, West London). Around 1992, he heard that Jay was doing a track called "When You Gonna Learn?" Jay asked Wallis if he would play didgeridoo on the intro. He played on the intro and because it worked so well, he also played in the middle of the tune. After that, Wallis was hooked up with the band and was with them until the release of A Funk Odyssey in 2001.
Does anyone know why Wallis Buchanan is no longer part of Jamiroquai? No reasons have been made public about why he is no longer part of the band. I miss that dideridoo! He is currently working on his own musical projects, some involving Derrick and Sola (so his music won't be lost to the world! ) I want to thank Wallis for his contribution to Jamiroquai and the introducing me to the spirituality of the digeridoo that has touched my life.
Best of luck Wallis - we'll miss you!

hmmmmm, maybe jay and the rest thought that it didn't fit to the musicstyle of the new album anymore?
i agree with you, the didgeridoo gives the music a great and unique style!
maybe wallis will return for the next album? if he is still working together with the guys from the band, that must mean, that they didn't have a fight or something like that. so, we can still hope... _________________ Dear Auntie Em. Hate you, hate Kansas, took the dog. Dorothy. x |

and dead proud of it! :D
it's so sad that wallis had to go... the didg sound was something that contributed to the true uniqueness of jamiroquai's music. i hope they get the didg in again for the next album, even if it means getting another member in! |

well...
I remember being dissapointed from the fact that wallis only plays in 1-2 tracks per album. I think that because jay wanted wallis as a full time band member and sony tried to get rid of him (and also the rest of the band actually) they compromised on that.
but now I guess sony have won.
I see many jamiroquai songs that could contain didgeridoo... |

I completely agree with you all!
Maybe it's like in the politics: if we get enough names together to sign a petition we possibly could move something!?
Wallis for president! Or, at least back on stage! _________________ Now we're gettin' nasty ... |

Wallis info...
Just been reading the reviews of the Percussion workshops being held in Oz, when I came across this.....
"Also found out that Wallis was lucky to get even one track on Synk - apparently he never showed up for rehearsals and was only ever at Jays for one afternoon during the recording (when they laid down his didge bit for Supersonic)."
Seems like Wallis didn't want to be there
