An opinion
...I've read many news about intensive touring....about that the rest of band that is composing new material...about Jay that has stopped with drugs....about a Best of....it seems that things are rushing a lot...too much for a 37 years old man.
Wouldn't be a good idea to...relax for a few, and make only an unplugged performance, and record it officially? I think that for new songs it needs time and rehearsals, and an unplugged performance would be a perfect Best of....only percussion, piano, acoustic bass & guitar, and...Jay's voice.
I've listened to few songs performed in this way and...they were brilliant, new, directly to the roots of a song. |

Thirty seven isn't old. Fair enough touring is tiring but there are plenty of artists out there a lot older than Jay still touring. They get treated well in terms of quality of accomodation & all the other perks that come along...

Like Inaki said it could be great to listen to & is def a different idea. It'd certainly get my attention more than an album release of songs in the same format we already know... |

an unplugged sounds great.......i dont think that the tour is too much for a 37 years old man......i saw them in the argentina show and they seem to be very energic, and happy.....i personally like the turn that JK give to jmrq music.......they sound strong, loud and with force......if you listen all the albums the evolution is great (obiusly is a personal opinion), many of jamiro fans, missed the early times music.......that was excelent too......but evolution is good....and un unplugged is part of un evolution, becous you have to put all your energy, without the synths and computers, and thats is great oportunity to the band to show us how good muscicians are.....and i have no doubt taht they are _________________ Jamiro - ROCKS!! - |

... What on earth does quitting drugs have to do with contributing towards the 'rushing'? I'd have thought if anything that all this work is helping him keep his mind off it - although if we believe what Jay says he'd been clean for 18 months before the current world tour started anyway...

Jay is more energetic than ever. He moved and moved, and danced and danced, and jumped and jumped, he's not old for christ sakes!
I posted about the idea of an unplugged long time ago, I'd really like to hear that kind of 'jammin' feeling, NO computers.
But don't say Jay is old... he's not 20 when he began, of course, but after all he passed, he's great, trust me.

it's not that it makes any difference and I really don't wanna sound smart-aleck-like..... but Jay is 36
(I just know this because my hubby has always had the same age as Jay and I was wondering when i read your "37" if i missed one of my husband's birthdays... )
Anyways, I agree - Jay has loads of energy on stage!! Probably more than "others in his age"...

Oh, and to come back to the main idea of this topic - I'd love to hear more unplugged stuff from jamiroquai. Am not sure though, if a whole album would be too much for me, but it is definetly better than an ordinary "Best Of" with no new tracks.

I don't think 36 is too old for anyone to tour. Quitting drugs will actually make Jay feel better and more energetic. Madonna and Mick Jagger, for instance, are older than Jay and carry on with their world tours.
I think that what may have got Jay and the rest of Jmq down was jetlag. It IS very tiresome to catch planes, travel for hours and move from city to city, from country to country. But that's rock n' roll, right?
As for an unplugged album, I'm with Meike on this one: a couple of tracks would be fine, but a WHOLE album would be just too much for me. In my opinion the unplugged sound is a bit worn out after so many MTV acoustic records. There's really no novelty anymore. Besides, sometimes the new version sounds like a pale version of the original. I got Seal's 2 cd set(greatest hits + acoustic ) and couldn't listen to the unplugged cd more than once. The songs became so slow, so boring I couldn't believe it. |

The word you're all looking for, those of you whose first language isn't English, is 'acoustic'. 'Unplugged' refers to the MTV acoustic albums.
And to be honest I'm not too hot on the acoustic versions they did of some of the AFO songs. They were nice when I first heard them but they got a bit trying after a few listens. Although a song which is actually WRITTEN as an acoustic number, such as 'Black Crow', is cool, I like that. Just not a whole album's worth... it's nice to know they can do it, but I don't need any more!

yes,he said: "this is a track i wrote when i was a young guy. i was 27 then, and now im nearly 43..." all the people in the crow looked at each other like "no way,he is not 43!!" and it was a funny moment because he was obviously kidding but not everyone understood the joke.. |
