Do It Like We Use To Do
an aggressive song, or what? lol it's so funking loud, intense, jazzy & discofunk! i am digging the horns & the violins very, very much!
this song is just filled with energy & good vibes! it's funk to the extreme! Nick, Rob & the rest of the band sound freaking superrbbb on this track! goddaamn! lol
the vocal arrangements are brilliant (especially, at 05:43 onwards...the extended singing of JK vocals....."...doooo it baby, you know..dooo it likkke we uuuse to dooo....do it, like we usee to do...come on and do it yeah..." & yes....@ 02:57 onwards....."i wanna do it, got to do it, wanna do it....". leading to those violins getting so aggressive. and those trumpets proper getting into it! it's funk at it's best! ooooo yes, indeed! ppphhhwwoooaarrr......hardcore s***, if you ask me! lol LOL
tres, tres la magnifique!
so what does everyone think, about this song? :grin2:
ciao all.
P.S have a gr888 weekend, all! _________________ My heart is a pure sun and the sky is black, and I can feel cold steel when I turn my back, it stings like needles, with a jagged tongue, you know this scream reminds me, of when I was so young

I AGREE! FUNKIN ACE!!!
Yeah damn right! This song is fantastic. When I got the YGMS DVD Single and I first heard it I was like... WOW. It was the highlight of the DVD. I also agree with the comment on the lyric arrangement. '' I wanna do it...
... got to do it'' And of course the violins. Its also ace to dance to!!!! I have just downloaded a tune called 'Fill JK In'. Its the music of Little L with the lyrics of Craig David's Fill Me In. It great. I recommended it.
PEACE JAMIROLOVERS - DannyEV.

I totally agree!
That's why I sang it so many times, i didn't notice it!
It was deep in my mind, and I danced on it (even in the kitchen, when i did the cooking !! ok! i'm mad )
They put something in this song...
I'm afraid to listen to it again, I know it will stay for long time in my mind again
SSSSSSSSSSSplendiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide :jumpinggreens:
Let's do it again!!! _________________ Like every humming bird and bumblebee every sunflower cloud and every tree

I loved it immediately! The song makes you want to move, but there's one problem with that......the beat is so fast, you can't really dance to it. Not puttin' on moves anyway. It's perfect for driving though, especially if you're cruisin at illegal speeds (I don't do that, but I'm sure Jay listens to it on the Italian Autobahn)
Why wasn't it on AFO?????? I thought SNOOZE YOU LOSE wasn't worth putting on an album, but DILWUTD is too good to have to download (or get on a single). I understand it was on AFO in Japan, but why not in the US? I don't understand why different versions of the same album are released around the world!!!!!! You know America got cheated out of Funktion when TWOM was released? Sony just keeps screwin' with us.
Cheers. |

A Tip of a hat to the old sound...
Hello everyone, :bm_r:
Ah...nothing brings a slight JK grin to my barking box than a new topic started by the great Queen Of Funk! Now, to the topic at the hand, Do It Like We Used Too, another great ender song to a great odyssey, I was surprised when I listened to the album all the way through when this diamond in the rough fell off the CD! Such a great sound which is another musical tip of the hat to the old sound, mind-numbing drums and drums, a brief glimpse to the Jamiroquai of old. I hope we see more songs of this caliber on the 6th album, with heavy hopeful vibes of the old sound! Thanks for listening and the usual props to CosmicMouse & Bear! Peace and a special shout-out to Queen of Funk!
Sincerely,
JamiroFan2000
P.S. Hope you all like my new JK picture avator!

JAMIROFAN'S THOUGHT OF THE POST

When I listen to Jamiroquai's DILWUT, I get the sen-
sation I'm in a roller disco rocking it out in a big hat
while enjoying a nice frothy Root Beer with some
oversized rollerskates rolling down a neon-shattered
rink!! (York Peppermint Patty Parody) Hee Hee!

couldn't agree more, jamirofan! "do it like we use to do" is the first process back to the original, jazz-funk-soul fusion feeling of jami. it's a fantastic song with excellent performances from each member of the band, displaying how their sound use to be. BBRRRAAAVVOOOO, jami! I mean the title itself, of the song says it all. _________________ My heart is a pure sun and the sky is black, and I can feel cold steel when I turn my back, it stings like needles, with a jagged tongue, you know this scream reminds me, of when I was so young |

Sorry, honeys, but I do not like that song. It goes too fast, it's too hectic.
I can't wait to listen to other versions of this track. Maybe I'll like it better then. _________________ ?Now I've got that sunshine in my life? |

Awww, that's too bad, sunrayvibe. I know it's fast (faster than any other jamiroquai song, I think) but it's so much fun! More importantly, it IS more like they used to do than songs like Little L, which is much more poppy than anything else produced by the band.
I love the groovin' music, and more than anything else I want to see songs like WYGL and Space Cowboy on the sixth album. But sometimes we all need to forget about the slower funk, kick off our heels, and dance till we drop! That's what DILWUTD is about, I think. Too bad it wasn't on AFO.....I'd listen to that album a lot more.
Cheers, mates. |

Yes Freddie, I share your view about the speed in DILWUTD.
This was also the reason why I used not to like "Kids" (can you believe this?)
After listening to live versions of "Kids" I started to like the song. So there is still hope for me _________________ ?Now I've got that sunshine in my life? |

I felt the same way about THE KIDS......and a few other songs for that matter. I didn't even like Space Cowboy that much until I heard some live recordings.
The thing about THE KIDS is, it doesn't seem to fit the rest of the album, I don't think. ROTSC has probably got the most diverse sound aside from TWOM. THE KIDS, right after Manifest Destiny and right before Mr. Moon seems a little out of place to me. Kind of like DILWUTD.......I tried putting together a complete AFO album (with DILWUTD and Snooze You lose) but I couldn't find a good place to put it in the track list. It's random.
Take care, everyone. |
