To be honest, I don't like it. I prefer 'Memories of the Space Cowboy', without dates, without caducity. 'Memories...' sounds, in my opinion, solid, stronger, a bit mysterious too. However, it's just an opinion.

but if you want to release asomething like this, people should know it's a hits compilation, it must have a name including words like "greatest hits" or "singles", or dates, so for a guy who doesn't know to much about the band or just knows some songs from the tv or radio, and is going to buy an album and looks fast at the cd and reads "singles... 1992-19..." he knows it's a compilation of "the best" (or I should say the ones that made sony win more money? LOL) of the artist or band.

I find it ironic that they date there career for the greatest hits album, but when it came to A Funk Odyssey, they wouldn't let them do the 2001: A Funk Odyssey. Just a thought cause Sony is out of there minds.

"2001: A Funk Odyssey" would have been an infringement of copyright.

I like the title, it sums it up well.

BTW, I love the pic in your sig Smile

True, I didn't noticed this point. However, it's possible to include words like 'greatest hits' (I don't like the word 'singles', it shows that we're talking about a comercial choice of songs). Maybe something like 'The best of Jamiroquai: Memories of the Space Cowboy' could have been a good choice, even if the word 'best' is as doubtfully as 'hits'. Anyway, I repeat: it's just an opinion about a topic that it's not so important.

Aaah, cool - I thought it would have been because of 2001: A Space Odyssey Smile

then name was to be in fact that one.
that's jay's (and stu's) favorite film, and jay wanted to put this name (2001: a funk odyssey) to the album as a wink to it, but sony didn't want a date on the name.... Confused

Here's something I've been thinking about...

If the first single 'Runaway' is released in October. The second one, 'Radio', if it's released in, let's say, January 2nd, the title of the album should be "High Times: Singles 1992-2007"!

Nothing shows a more obvious concentration on the commercial than the words 'Greatest Hits'...
