over-devoted fans
okay, this has nothing to do with jamiroquai, but with being a fan.
yesterday evening there was a report on german tv about fans, who go too far in their love for something.
an example: a girl, who is a huge fan of the Kelly-Family in general (yes, the music sucks, but that's a personal thing) and of one of the members in particular, spent weeks in front of the door of her favorite kelly. after nothing happend after a couple of weeks, she broke into the garden of the house to get some pictures. she was cought and was exclused from further concerts of the band and was reported to the police. the tv-crew arranged a meeting with the particular member of the band and that girl, where the girl had the chance to appologize for her behavior.
another example (kelly-family based again) one of the band-members told the tv-crew that he was followed by a car after he left a theater. again, they ended up being exclused from future concerts.
what i am trying to say: maybe the next time one of us meets somebody from the band, we should think about if the moment of approuce is the right one.
i will for sure - i don't wanna be exclused from the concerts (of jamiroquai!!!! i really don't care about the kelly's)

Over-devoted Fans!
 Hello everyone, :jay4:
I can really relate with your views on over-devoted fans, most of the teenage population have become overboard fans of boy groups, girl groups and other artists (In my view!). But I was like everyone else on this planet a teenager at one point, and I understand "hero worship" is one aspect of the Teen genome, but kids tenting out overnight at artists houses is very extreme, and there also some female fans who end up having such a taste for there fav artist and decide to make themselves up real nice and go backstage and become sexual fodder for the band members (A little like the R-Kelly incident!, other mentionables: Kid Rock, Insane Clown Posse, etc.). It's a scary thought, but like the credo says, "Sex, Drugs and Rock N' Roll". Keep up the great work CosmicBear! Peace!

I think we should all give famous people their space. I think we all want our space at times even from our friends. So to be fair to those in the spotlight give them space. I used to work in a shop & I served several famous people namely Emma Bunton & Emmanuel Petit. (Not together!) They didn't want to be pestered whilst out minding their own business so respect that people!! Oo that was rather serious for me! Not even any funny faces in all that! Lets make up for that now!

That is by far the hottest thing you've ever said... just imagining you now... oh god...
Anyway, I there's a lot of situations where people can go to far. Two examples I can think of is Eminem's song "Stan", and you rabid soccer fans in Europe and South America especially lol.
Na but all forms of celebs seem to go through this. Some people just don't know how/when to back off.

yeh i would hate to be a celebrity mainly becoz the fact ur a celebrity ur allowd to be chased down by paparatzi u cant do anything about it....u wouldnt be able to do anything without people swarming all over u ... i think it would seriously suck! |

I feel bad about invasion of privacy at times, but they know what they are getting in to. Not a justification, just a fact.
Claudia and I talk about this all the time. No one is TRULY THAT important...really  We have lives at the end of the day that we go back to and we love.
Man, the times I've been mistaken for a groupie backstage with an obvious PRESS pass....I can't even count. It's ridiculous! After a concert when I saw about 13 girls backstage to "be" with an artist is when I decided to create COVER YOUR LOVER too. I kept thinking...."please God, let these girls have condoms or the celebrities have condoms...because often if a girl is off balance enough to do that, that condom might not be "safe". Then I got bold and would try and talk them out of being there for that reason. And I think it's sad that some celebrities look at ALL female fans in this sense - really sad.
When I was 18 I made a dumb mistake after a concert (not THAT mistake), and it was UGLY. I learned my lesson bigtime! Then again, I was dumb and well....18!
And Brent (Sorry - I know your comment was over 4 years ago but no one commented on it then  ) - that R.Kelly incident really wasn't about crazy fans. It was about a perverted man peeing on an underage girl. Now that is nasty - proof that it isn't fans that always take it too far....celebrities often use their status to act like complete assholes .

I met some of these over-devoted fans at a robbie williams concert, i understand why he is scared of his own fans!
And no it was not 15 year old kids, it was women aged between 35 and 25. So they should have had more ..brain?
my thought was ranging from O.M.G!!! to..is the jamily just as crazy?
I know we have some crazy thoughts..but...going to madame tussauds to grab a celebs groin?
And at a concert, turning his face to yours and just kiss it?
Sending gifts to the hotel, and keep calling there to ask if he got your pressie.
And be proud of what you did!!!
No, i don't think jamiroquai fans are that MENTAL!...are we?

that song explains himself, the video really dont care, the song is very self-explicyt about the theme over-devoted fans and how all the things can go wrong when u are so crazy for forget your own life and became a over-devoted fan
