sound technic at the concerts
i would have a question..
we discussed so many concerts now and so often we mentioned problems with the sound...
who is responsible for that and why don´t they exchange the team if it is obvious it is not working fine
i just wonder
maybe u know more than me about that
thx _________________ "Here it is...there is no way to make it better " |

Well from reading articles about Jay's sound engineer, its the house (or the venues) speaker system. They bring there own mixers and equipement as well as monitors and mic's, but I don't recall them ever saying that they bring the mains (the speakers that you and I here from). And alot, and I mean ALOT, of venues use really crappy Peavey speakers or what have you. Also the acoustics can really affect the performance- so the size and shape of the concert hall.
If your reffering to the bootlegs of concerts, the ones that sound bad are usually the fans that have little cassette recorders or what-have-you in the crowd.
Hope that helps! |

thx..
i didn´t mean the quality of the bootlegs
it´s just that jay kay gives instructions to the engineers on the sound so often and i thought if there isn´t any way that they can improve that..must be so annoying during a concert to also take care of that... _________________ "Here it is...there is no way to make it better " |

i am just reading now... most parts are written in a language i don´t understand...
can somebody tell me what jay kay actually hears when he is on stage?..does he hear all the instruments and background singers directly from the microphone..is that right? but he hears the audience too or?..does he hear what comes out of the loudspeakers too?
i know this questions sounds silly...but for me it is difficult to understand the text...and why is that picture above the text.. _________________ "Here it is...there is no way to make it better " |

He has two speakers called "wedges" in front of him. He hears a mix of his vocals and piano according to the article. He can still hear the crowd, however, when there playing songs he hears mostly himself and whatever Matt is playing. The rest of the band has a totally different setup. Hope this helps again! |

Yes I read this article before. It's very interesting. Like this:
Quote: |
“We've been recording every show since 1999, so we have about 250 shows on either DA-88 or Pro Tools,” says Pope. “Most of them we may never even listen to, but Jay likes to have them on file.” |
Why can't we have at least 100 live dvd's

That's a hell of a lot of official live recordings ripe for release right after the Sony contract's up!

The only problem is Sony might have rights to those recordings. Depending on the contract Jay signed, they might not even be able to use the band name anymore (I'm guessing not, but some contracts back in the day were really terrible like that).
Also, Im not sure what exactly P.A. stands for, but its pretty much the sound amplification system. Meaning the speakers used to make the music we all enjoy in the crowd! Sometimes artists like to hear the PA coming from the main speakers. In Jays case, the engineer specifically makes it so Jay can hear the songs the way the audience hears it. Its different with evey artist, but thats the way Jay does it. If it helps, think of the PA's as the Main speakers, the big guys on the left and right of the stage. |

So sorry. I didn't mean to be negative! There is always hope though that the engineer will release copies of it! Thats how we got all the other HQ bootlegs. Who knows, maybe Sony will become human once again... |
