When a close friend passes away...
Gyula Wiegand
(1973-2006)
Losing a close friend of yours is like when a piece is torn out of your heart. Now I know how does it feel, it is endless pain... Gyula Wiegand (a.k.a. Jules, Gyuszee, Julio), the singer of funky band Volvox died suddenly in a car accident Monday afternoon. He was one of my closest friend, a talented musician, a big Jamiroquai fan and an adorable guy. We wanted to put together a Jamiroquai tribute show for the same week when High Times comes out (and this would have been the kick-off of the Jamiroquai fan-club evenings), we already had the date fixed with the club (our plan was to invite Matt, Derrick or Sola early next year to be a special guest one night, I already contacted them last week), we were to discuss the tunes that they were going to play when he returns from his holiday. Unfortunately he will never return... I'm still waiting for his call to say that this is just a vicious joke, but his phone doesn't answer. Life is a shit...
Jules, your smile and voice is burned into my heart, even if you're gone, your memory remains.........

Thanks guys, I really appreciate your support There's no justice, and (for me) there's no god.
The worst thing is that the memories keep coming up. Once I went down to a smoky club where he played U2, Eric Clapton and Sting songs on acoustic gitar and when I arrived, right in the middle of a track he started to play the chorus of Seven Days In Sunny June with a cheeky smile on his fase, both of us started laughing. I have dozens of stories like this... |

I'm thinking of you, Zsoma, and of Wiegand's family and friends. It is a very sad time for you all.
