Cool Ed that you liked this gig!

We all have our preferences; some want no backing vocals, some want both backing vocals and brass section. If we could change something, there'll always be something we want to see different. I agree with Jonas, the combination brass-backing vocals is perfect for me. And I agree with Ed, sometimes the background singers are singing too much. But if I had to choose, I'll keep them both!

Well said and very true.

And believe it or not... there are surely fans who doesn't want a brass section. Ye non-believers with hearts of stone and minds closed to the truth... see the light... horns should be compulsory. 7saxophone

I like the combination of the girls and the brass section like a grand funk band...
But I have to agree with Ed that sometimes They seem to sing a little too much. That help Jay harmonically but takes away the way he can flavour the track.

A big " problem" ( if that is) surround this. Funk's about groove and rhythm... The fact that the band's been acussed of not being the same is that the songs are not the same. In the past the Dj provided all chorus and scratches of course and Zender's sound had between many others effects, compresions, chorus and flanger. All that took the groove and rhythm thing to a high level... these days rhythm share the place with more melodies and harmonies.

These current songs sound great! They're not the same, but as Jonas said Then was then and now is now. As simple as that. Wink

I must say that 12 people up there is just marvelous! Combination of brass and backing vocals is from a real band, like most funk bands in the seventies.

I don't think the girls sing too much... maybe... I don't know Laughing

I have to admit to agreeing with Ed on this Wink I think they overdo it, especially on IILIIDI and EOPE - it's like they were given things to sing just because they were already on stage. The horns are brilliant though!

Here are the exact lengths of the songs they played:

01. High Times 5:35
02. Space Cowboy 6:12
03. If I Like It, I Do It 5:02
04. Emergency On Planet Earth 3:33
05. Seven Days In Sunny June 4:50
06. Black Capricorn Day 6:14
07. Canned Heat 9:11
08. Use The Force 8:22
09. Travelling Without Moving 8:32
10. Runaway 3:43

Which makes they played 66 minutes and 14 seconds of the 90 minutes they've been on.
