I'd love to hear that too, I read somewhere it was a hip-hop song.
And did he say they only made 3 white labels?
The rarest Jamiroquai record? |

this could quite possibly be the rarest song by jamiroquai (aside from the original synkronised album with Zender) because it hasnt been heard by many and at least weve heard clips of other rare songs like midnight funk! _________________ On the inside he was dead, And this is what he said ..... |

Hello,
Indeed, this could very well be the rarest, but you got to remember this track PRE-DATES Jamiroquai...or at least before the Acid Jazz influence was considered, J was a B-Boy and heavy into Hip Hop . I mean, JK was about 16-17 years when he got this tracks recorded and pressed sometime in 1990-1991, and he mentions only 3 whitelabels of it were pressed, so this track will be EXTREMELY hard to find. I just bet you he still has all 3 copies of that whitelabel of "Natural Energy" in his possession, so the likelyhood of hearing this by accident or net leaking is practically impossible. But, with my logic aside, this would be SO interesting to hear, JK freestyle rapping over a drum machine?!? I just can't imagine that...but hey, we have seen stranger things.....right ? Peace!
Sincerely,

Didn't Jay have an Iranian friend called Ellam or something? This bloke had some gear and Jay used to hang at his place and they made some beats together. He mentioned this in an early interview... it could be the interview taped when they played Club Citta. I reckon all this took place when Jay was in his mid to late teens. It's quite possible this white label is something they made together and paid with their own money. If so, I'm quite sure Jay has one copy, Ellam the other... and God knows where the third is. Maybe Jay's mum has it... or a DJ (perhaps someone like Norman Jay, Roy the Roach or Gilles Peterson) or possibly even sent to a label. Maybe it's been destroyed... we don't know and I doubt we'll ever find out.
I'd say it's impossible to obtain one of these white labels. It's probably impossible to even obtain a tape or a mp3... unless you know Jay or someone close enough to him to actually own one of the three records made. It was probably acetate records... so the condition these days is probably not very good.
To us regular fans and collectors this white label simply is like it didn't even exist. I'd love to see someone prove me wrong though. _________________ Old school forever! |
