DILWUTD - a simple question:
If "Do It Like We Used To Do" became an actual chart-eligible single, do you think it'd top the US dance chart just like canned heat did? |

No. For two reasons.
1. It's not as catchy as Canned Heat, it's not the same type of "hit material".
2. The tempo is somewhat too high.
It's an excellent tune though, the best from that era without a doubt. But it wouldn't attract the mainstream like Canned Heat did. Canned Heat is a modern classic, it's just like one of those timeless disco hits from the late 70's. Not many can resist it... they just wanna dance. _________________ Old school forever! |

I agree with Space Clav. Canned Heat has a catchier hook than DILWUTD does as well,IMO...and yes, the tempo is EXTREMELY fast. I'd have to say it's the fastest Jamiroquai song of all. Can't think of any quite as fast. Traveling Without Moving comes close, but not quite as fast.
Don't get me wrong, I love DILWUTD,but I don't see it being as popular as Canned Heat. _________________ Just play my tune... |

Nope. Agreeing on SC's points.
Also, realize the timing of CANNED HEAT. It was the first single after the phenomenon known as TWM. People were itching and feenin' for another release. Also, I believe TWM was the Jamiroquai album that had the most dance remixes come out of it, so I think most DJ's were hyped up for the first single and remix to play in the clubs while Jamiroquai was a fresh name in everyone's mind.
Hope that makes sense. _________________ www.dee34.wordpress.com |

Although it did place in the billboard dance charts, DU really wasn't a phenomenon here though and it surely didn't make an impact as the singles off TWM did so most people didn't buy it at all or don't even recognize it as a Jamiroquai song. _________________ www.dee34.wordpress.com |
