Help me to choose a photocam:)
Can anybody give me an advise which cam should I better buy: Nikon D80 kit or Sony DSLR-A100 kit?
Main for me is to be able to picture nature and to make pics without flash and those pics to be still(not blurred) and to picture JMQ in concert and to have still shots)) |

Both are awesome. I saw some great reviews of this brand new Sony and the price is very aggressive because Sony wants to gain market quota on this segment which is almost totally owned by Canon and nikon. I would go for this Sony or I would buy the Canon EOS 400D which has great value too. _________________ I once had a 10 years of Travelling Without Moving celebrations banner here... |

Yeah, I've thought about Canon 400D too...
Only problem with Sony is that not every lens fits this photocam-only those from Minolta... So I suppose that I'll spend more money on leses than with Nikon or Canon... |

Instead of the new Canon 400D you could also check out the older model, the 350D, which will be a lot cheaper. |

I understand, but that's not about money, that's about quality...
And what are the differences between Canon 400 and 350? |

I have absolutely no idea, sorry
I guess the 400D is just an upgrade with more megapixels and slight improvements of other thingies.
on the Dutch (and English and probably a lot more languages) Canon site you can diurectly compare the two camera's (and even a third Canon dslr). Just check out canon.com.
here's a direct link to the english site |

When it comes to buying a digital SLR camera, I would strongly recommend a Canon, preferably an EOS-400D. However, if the choice is between a Sony and a Nikon, I would recommend the Nikon. This is purely because the Nikon D80 is almost equal to the Canon EOS-400D...in fact, most people find it difficult to choose between them.

well im not a profi with cams
i know both firms
i would choose sony definitely for other things than a digital cam.
nikon is a better name for digitalcams.
so i would coose nikon
but for me there are other firms i would choose a camera from: canon or kodak _________________ maxud braucht funk food denn dann bleibt maxud maxud

http://www.dpreview.com is a great site for comparing most cameras out there, and the comments from people who own them are good for discovering any little (or big) annoyances the manufacturers don't tell you about. _________________

Another great site for reviews:
www.steves-digicams.com
There's no great improvement from Canon 350D to 400D but the dust removing feature looks intresting, dust is one of the biggest issues on SLR cameras.
The point is...we're talking about great cameras, it's pretty difficoult to choose between them.
As I said my vote goes to the Sony one and I would maybe think to upgrade it soon with the upcoming Carl Zeiss lenses _________________ I once had a 10 years of Travelling Without Moving celebrations banner here... |

Awww!
I've read reviews and seem that now I can't choose between Canon 400D and Nikon d80:)
I won't buy Sony coz everybody tells me that not every lens fits it and in these cameras lenses are very (in not the most) important....
In Canon I like dust remover, that it's been produced aftre Nikon (so they've possibly reduced some Nikon's mistakes), but I don't like the way that button is located....
And I like shots by Canon more than Nikon, but then why Canon is cheaper than Nikon if it's better? |
