Interview with Jay Kay
I've met the maaaaan!!
Couldn't be happier. He's great. All the band members were there. I asked: what now after sony? and Jay said: now I'm gonna do some proper music. Derrick's told me they're gonna use the brass section and maybe some strings. They're composing new stuff but haven't recorded anything yet.
Now I know why Jay turns out bad in interviews, fucking journalists tease him bad in order to get angry answers to sell magazines...
I'll upload a pdf file when the interview in the magazine it's published. And the picture I have with him if I ever figure out how to do it.
We should all be happy. Old school vibes are coming back!!!!!!!!!

They're amazing
Yeah they are, I'd forgotten how much their music puts me in a happy mood. Sorry if I do stuff wrong, I'm kinda new at the jamirotalk thing. I was just in the jamline and jamily. As soon as I have all Jay's words written down I'll paste them here. I'll also send the audio to David from funkin so he can upload it.
I really hope that now that they're released from Sony they'll make en EOPE again.
Hugs!!

Inaki and Sandra - I agree, but I do want to make note that many times journalist don't get to pick who they interview, especially when they are in the "paying dues" phase and need to bulk up their portfolio. Many times they are assigned to a group or a person as part of their job and only have a few days to prepare (if even that). Therefore, they go online and find other articles about Jay or Jamiroquai, and ask those same type questions.
Unfortunately, fans of artists that are journalists usually don't get to interview the artists either...
I'm not making excuses for lazy journalism or justifying it, but I know how it is to be assigned to someone you aren't interested in. It's your job - so you have to make the best of it.
On the flipside, artists should in turn make opportunity for fans to ask questions and post interviews with more quality questions on fan websites and such - like the guys do here on Jamirotalk!
On another note, I am so excited to see this interview when it comes out and I know you did a damn good job with it! I know they were probably so grateful to have someone knowledgable and into the music interviewing them - and it's such a high for you - You go girl! _________________ www.dee34.wordpress.com

Alexandra will be post the whole thing later, but for starters (some of you might not like this first one, but he was pretty fired up at this stage, so...)
What about the greatest hits? Is there gonna be a tour?
No. Definately not.
How was it putting together the greatest hits album? Was it like taking a trip down memory lane?
No, it’s not a big deal. It’s what they want. I’m purely doing this to get out of the record deal.
So what are you gonna do after Sony?
I’m gonna make some proper music. _________________

Yeah, he was pretty blunt when talking about his own stuff. He seemed WAY more interested in telling everyone how fucked the world is!!! _________________

I hope they didn't do the good old 'how many hats do you have Jay????' question - poor guy, he must be asked that in every interview!

It's not journalists it's the media that sucks
I know they just try to do their job and sometimes they don't even care about who the artist is or haven't got the time to research. I guess it's like as if I had to interview David Bisbal (awful singer from the first spanish pop idol).
What drives me crazy is seeing them asking really rude questions that in other words say something like: your music is commercial crap with no lyrics or how come you are so enviroment worried and you have a sports car? Stuff like that makes him angry and pull out the excentric pal inside him. Putting in and out his sunglasses, crossing his arms and stuff like that. I think they just want to tease him in order to get angry stuff out of him so they can have an outstanding headline.
I had the greatest time. When the time was almost over Jay was told, we're finished let's go have lunch and he said he wanted to stay. He liked me and my proper questions! He's just so funny, flirts with all women. When I arrived and sat there I took a look at the journalist next to me to see what was she doing, where was her recorder and stuff. Jay looks at me and says: no cheating from her notes!
Derrick was incredibly kind and quite surprised when I was telling him stuff I had liked so much from the last gigs. His face was like: where's this girl come out from? I confessed I'm not a journalist, they were so flattered that I'd gone crazy to substitute my friend in the interview in order to meet them. They were all really nice to me and I just kept smiling like a stupid groupie and saying stupid things as I heard myself on the recording later...
I'm almost done writting down the interview, Andrew's helping me to correct it. I'll paste it as soon as I can.
Good vibes!
