OMG! Shocked

It's a miracle no one was killed. 6 people are reported injured, but there is no info about their condition.

Shocked That's madness! What is happening in the world?! That must have been some tornado!
Here is the BBC report: BBC Tornado in West London

I was on a boat in Italy on my hols this year and saw a whirlwind, that was freaky!

I do hope that those poor people are ok Confused Comparing the BBC photo to the Hurricane Katrina pictures, I can't imagine what the people in the Americas go through year in and year out with hurricanes and tornados they experience over there! Confused Whether it be on a big or small scale, it's very scary!

I hope they are all okay too, and thanks for saying this about what we go through over here. I guess we are immune to having and experiencing tornados and hurricanes because when I read this I treated it like any other headline in the news - not that shocking I suppose.

I've never been through a tornado, but being near the Atlantic Ocean I've been through some hurricanes. They aren't fun. Anyway, my prayers and thoughts go out to the families of those that died and those that have to rebuild their lives.

Yes, it was quite a surprise! It's not often you see a tornado here in England.

The BBC news report I saw earlier stated that 1 person had been admitted to hospital with a head injury and 5 others were treated for minor injuries/shock at the scene.

I live around two hours away from London, but we are currently experiencing very strong winds here. We have lost several tiles from our roof and the power keeps coming and going. Confused

Yes, this kind of things really freak me out. We're heading to something really nasty. Temperatures, storms, everything is coming in BIGGER dosis.

Not long home from work and just seen it on the T.V.
Scary stuff, and, as you say SpaceClav, a miracle that no-one was seriously injured. Apparently over 30 tornados hit the U.K every year, but this one hit ground over a populated area and was particularly fierce. I hope most of those people get their homes sorted before Christmas. Unfortunately, it looks like it'll be a longer wait for some of them.
Wish them all thebest, as it's a horrible thing to happen at any time of year.

Although I totally agree with comments above about fucking the planet and so on (as I've made clear before in other threads)... as Funkmonkey says, this isn't an instance of it happening. Something that occurs a couple of times a month in the UK happened in a populated area this week. Even that in itself isn't VERY unusual - but it was London, which means the news agencies of Britain and the world have actually paid some attention to this one.

Unusual, yes, hard for the people whose houses it hit, yes - I'm all sympathy, don't get me wrong. But it's not a result of global warming.
