JAY KAY INTERVIEW WITH Q MAGAZINE FEB 2007
Hi everyone, I found this at Funkin today...
The February 2007 issue of Q Magazine (UK) features a two page interview with Jay where he gives his opinion on each of the bands five studio albums. Here are small extracts from his comments on each album...
The Eco-Warrior Album - Emergency On Planet Earth
...Musically, I wanted to emulate my heroes, such as Roy Ayers, as these were the first people I heard who married up strings, funky guitars and horns. It's a messy album, but it's bursting with ideas and it's full of detail...
The Drug Album - The Return Of The Space Cowboy
...I went through a serious depression writing this album. I was high as a kite, but there was more to it than just that. The press backlash had started, and I'd never experienced anything like it before...What I remember most about this album, apart from the drugs, was the video for that song [Space Cowboy]. It was the start of a beautiful friendship: music and image joined together.
The Blockbuster Album - Travelling Without Moving
I was a happier bunny this time around, and that's largely because the previous tour had gone well enough to bring me out of my misery...
The Acrimonious Album - Synkronized
We were exhausted by this stage and there was lots of upheaval. Just as we started recording at my new home studio, Stuart said he was leaving. Why? He wanted to be the frontman. He went off to do his own thing - I've no idea what that was to this day - and I wrote songs about it...
The Overlooked Album - Dynamite
With this album I wanted to break America properly. People were saying I should get Timbaland to produce it...Instead I used Mike Spencer and all went well. At least I thought so, but the record company didn't promote it, and it came and went very quickly...
Finally Jay says, "I'm looking forward to being unemployed for a while and to finally being able to spread my creative wings. And if I can leave behind all the talk of funny hats and race cars, then so much the better."
For the full story, please read the February 2007 issue of Q Magazine (UK).

Is someone able to do a scan of this, as I'd love to see the full interview

Cheers Russ!
But I can't download it...
For some reason I can't download from Megaupload anymore. I get a handful of kilobytes then it stalls and it says it'll take 1000 days to complete. The same problem I had with that other file you know.
Can someone please put it on Rapidshare? It's the lesser evil for me.
Thanks in advance! _________________ Old school forever! |

Try to download it again. It's possible the download was aborted so the file is corrupt and not complete.
I downloaded Marina's zip (I reckon it's Russ' untouched zip) from Rapidshare and I had no problems whatsoever unpacking it. I'm on a Mac... but that shouldn't make a difference. I bet many PC users have successfully downloaded and unpacked it. _________________ Old school forever! |
