Jamiroquai on Wikipedia
Hello Jamirotalkers,

I was reading all pages related to Jamiroquai in wikipedia, and there's a link to a Jamirotalk.net topic in the Return Of The Space Cowboy album:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Return_of_the_Space_Cowboy

There's also a quite interesting info about the AFO Test Pressing, for fans that haven't heard it yet:

Differences of the test pressing from the final release

Feel so Good: The song on the test pressing has a somewhat longer intro, some (very silent) percussion, and is overall much longer.

Little L: This song pretty much as long as the album version, but there are some differences between the standard release and the test pressing, such as the percussion on the listener's left hand side, which, just like in Feel so Good is very silent.

You Give me Something: The song is extended and includes a percussion intro, and has an extended ending with the lyric "You just give me something!" being spoken, not sang.

Interude #1: This is a spoken interlude which was cut out of the final release. The interlude is also possible proof that the album, at the time known as 2001: A Funk Odyssey, was meant to be a concept one. The spoken interlude goes like this:
"Are you trying to shut down the funk assembly unit? Twenty Zero One? Twenty Zero One, do you copy? Are you trying to shut down the funk assembly unit? What are you doing, Jay? You told me the album would be live, but now you're tring to use my programs. What is the meaning of this word... "2001: A Funk Odyssey"? (Jibberish)"

The person speaking is actually Jason Kay, the band's lead singer, who has electronically manipulated the recording of his voice.

Main Vein: The song is somewhat shorter than the album version. The song also features no other vocals but the backing ones. This can possibly lead to a conclusion that this song was written about Denise van Outen, Jason's ex-girlfriend, but from her perspective. This way, the song can be considered to be the south pole to Little L, which is a song written about the same breakup, but from Jay's point of view.

Corner of the Earth: The song is one second shorter than the one on the album, and it also has some instruments played quite louder than on the final album.

Twenty Zero One: This song is much longer than the album version, and is the longest song on the album. Seeing how the album was primarily called 2001: A Funk Odyssey, this is possibly the title track of the album.

Black Crow: The song is 4 seconds longer than the final cut.
Interlude #2: This interlude is a 1:22 long beatbox by the lead singer. The same voice distortion is used as on Interlude #1. This same beatbox has been used in another one of the band's songs - Feels Just Like It Should, as an intro and some other parts.

Do it Like we Used to do: This is a shortened version of the track that appeared later in its whole on the final release, however, only as a bonus track in some regions.

Stop Don't Panic: The song is one minute longer, and the lead vocal is a bit dimmer than on the final cut.

Interlude #3: This interlude is Strauss' The Blue Danube. Oddly, the track is a lo-fi recording, and it fades in during the whole twenty-second play, but still remains very silent in the end.

Picture of my Life: This song has a longer fadeout than the album version, parts of the chorus are sang in a different accent, and the piano in the song is somewhat louder.

So Good to Feel Real: This is a separate song on this release, and is also the only unedited track that made it to the album.

Many fans have speculated that the band's record label lets the band have a smaller amount of creative input, due to the unedited tracks surfacing and showing how the album should've sounded like.

For Synkronized's buffalo man, it says:

While the design remained fundamentally unaltered, Buffalo Man has been turned into a laser-cut mirror and photographed from interesting angles by Midori Tsukagoshi. For the disc itself, no ink has been used on the character, but the same stone background found on the front cover has been used for the rest of the disc, thus allowing the consumer to recreate the photographed effect

Found something interesting on Wikipedia?

no, th eone included in the uk promo is an edit, it runs 6:45 and it start fading in, the one included as bonus in some releases of the actual album is longer (7:32)

appart of this i have to say that there is a third version of the song, it's exactly like the longer version (7:32) but it does not have echoes effect in the "do it" backing vocals.

Thanks for posting this Diego. Do you happen to know who wrote it?

I only ask because one of my favourite things to do when I'm bored is go through the English-language version of Wikipedia and proof-read articles so that the English is a bit better. I was up until 3am editing a biography of Alfredia di Stefano on there the other night!

This is my next task... Wink

Is hard to say, anybody can post/write there. I've actually updated the english version of the wikipedia about Jamiroquai with info about High Times Singles, and some fu**er erase it later and put some other crap info.

Well, definitely not guilty there - I only edit things so they make a bit more sense in English, I hardly ever change the 'fact' (or opinion) of the article itself...
