Candie Payne
Candie has just released her debut album - ' i wish i could have loved you more' on 21/05.
She hails from Liverpool and is the sister of the Zutons drummer. Her album is well worth a listen and sounds like something from the 1950's with it's haunting ballads which start with the title track. She also has a similar image to that of Amy Winehouse as i don't think they had 'Pantene Pro -v' in that era!
here she is on the Jools Holland show which also featured Beverley Knight.

- i wish i could have loved you more
- by tomorrow(stop your foot tapping to this then! )
she also has her own space:

and a download of her album can be found on various torrent sites - Rinaldo _________________

I just got tipped off to her, and I hear her album is one of the best to come out this year.
I heard she isn't good live though.
I am going to check out these links tonight Russ.
Thanks...I can always count on you for continued ear candy! _________________ www.dee34.wordpress.com |

her album can be a bit dark at times and i agree - she is a bit weak live.
However - she recently did a festival at Knowlsey Music Hall in Liverpool and a friend of mine thought she was excellent - maybe it's a case of on the day with her like many others?
The good news is she is performing at Lovebox so hopefully i can give a verdict then.
aswell as her brother from The Zutons, there is Howie Payne who was in a band called The Stands who were from the same elk as the Zutons/the Dead 60's and the Longcut. All these bands are very Zutonish if you like there stuff

I listened to her tracks on My Space this morning and I didn't expect such a vintage sound from her. Meaning the voice and the actual music. I like the second one on there under 'I wish'. I forget what it is at the moment, but yeah...gonna check out some more stuff later one.
Didn't know she was related to a guy in the Zutons either. Coolio.
Will check out the link to the other band also.
Thanks Russ. _________________ www.dee34.wordpress.com |
