Once upon a time there was a plump little dodo called Rory who got a loaf of Hovis stuck in his beak.
"Dear me," he proclaimed, "This shan't do!"
And with that he rolled off into the forest, skipping among the fresh leaf litter and humified organic matter of the soil's Ao horizon.
Rory trudged on for meters and meters, eventually stumbling upon a quaint little cottage made entirely from Mr Kipling baked goodies - Apple Pie chimney, Cherry Bakewell porch and by golly, even a Viennesse Whirl patio heater. He tentatively pootled up the golden pastry crust of a garden path (baked to perfection! so flaky and light!) and knocked on the grand Battenburg door, seeking assistance to dislodge certain yeasty items from his beak. With the creak of an oven door, the cake slice slowly swung open to reveal....

The door had been opened by a little vole wearing a purple top hat and rather dashing waistcoat. With a furtive glance behind his shoulder, the vole beckoned Rory forward with his nimble, gloved paws. Rory stepped forth, and the little vole swivelled round on his heels, disappearing behind a tall Cadbury's Dairy Milk grandfather clock.
Slightly bewildered, Rory peered around his new surrounding, blinking as his eyes adjusted to the light. The room was small and circular like a toffee penny, plainly decorated but sweet smelling, and many little doors dotted the perimeter. However, Rory's bulging little eyes were drawn forward to a grand, sweeping staircase that lay before him, comprised entirely of Curly Wurlys. As he gazed up he became aware that a pair of feet had emerged at the top of the staircase and were slowly but majestically making their way down to the landing. He stood, transfixed, as the creature carefully stepped down the chocolatey-toffee stairs, eventually revealing a long-legged emu with currant-like, staring eyes and a swishing bright-red cloak flailing behind him.
"Welcome to my dwelling, dear Rory. A few house rules... well, one, actually: do not gnaw at my house. You may call me Reg. Now follow me. We must be quick"
Briskly but silently striding away on tip toes, he led Rory through to the... |
