Toby Smith about writing tunes in Jamiroquai
Toby Smith speaks about writing tunes in Jamiroquai:

Quote:
"Virtual Insanity was the product of Jays chorus, written in Japan and my verse, both of which were written several years before we started writing the album."

Quote:
"The tunes that are any good, they take as long to write as the song takes to run," he explains. "So they take five, 10 minutes to write. The lyrics come later. But if you have to battle, say if it takes more than half an hour to get the framework together, they're never as good. Little L happened within a few minutes on this album, You Give Me Something, Virtual Insanity - all our best tunes happen very quickly. It is just the process of me and Jay sitting down at a piano and either he will have a melody or I will have some chords or he will have a verse and I will have a chorus. All our best hits have been that way."

Quote:
Alright -- a tune which Smith claims took just five minutes to write. "The troublesome tunes will happen over weeks, but the good ones will take only five minutes. On this album, nearly every tune happened very quickly -- me or Jay would come up with the idea and, bosh, the tune was there. When we had to record them, you have to overdub; that's what takes time -- getting them on tape."

I think so too Andrew. The corner says 14 1 2002, which I'm assuming means January 14, 2002 and according to Funkin, they were in Nagoya on that date.

I think the explanations from authors of the song seems more arguably than the one from the music executive...
