JAY KAY ARRESTED!!!!!!!!
Hi everyone, I just found this article - I hope it's not true!!!!!
JAY KAY ARRESTED FOR 'ATTACKING PHOTOGRAPHER'
JAMIROQUAI singer JAY KAY was arrested this morning (12SEP06) after allegedly attacking a photographer outside a London nightclub.
The DEEPER UNDERGROUND hitmaker left London's exclusive Kabaret nightspot and began shouting at the paparazzi gathered outside. He roared, "What are you looking at?" and launched verbal tirades at photographers before he appeared to slap one snapper around the face.
Security staff manning the door at Kabaret bundled Kay into his waiting people carrier, but he refused to leave the scene and ventured back onto the street to issue more insults.
Police arrived moments later, handcuffed Kay and arrested him on suspicion of assault. He was taken to Saville Row police station for questioning.
Photographer ROWAN LAWRENCE, who was outside the club when the incident took place, says, "Jay looked like he'd had far too much to drink and was in a bad way. "There was no provocation for his actions and the guy had done nothing when Jay hit him around the face."
Kay has a history of picking fights with paparazzi - in 2002 he was left with a broken nose when photographer ALAN GRISBROOK head butted him in an argument over a broken camera.

It's easy for us to say "you should have taken the high road Jay". But have anyone here been bothered 24/7 by ruthless paparazzi? I can only speak for myself, but I can imagine myself punching out a paparazzi if they refused to respect me and my wishes to be left alone. And I wouldn't have to be drunk to do it. Most celebrities are willing to let photographers take pictures from time to time. But when you got these scum hiding in the bushes, clinging on to you like fleas, almost following you into a club toilet, searching through your garbage and whatnot it's quite understandable that some celebrities lose their patience and get abusive if not violent.
Being drunk is certainly not an excuse. People do stupid things when they're drunk, but alcohol does not lock down your brain functions completely. If you're sober enough to walk and talk (not to mention knock someone down) you're sober enough to think.
Yes, the smart thing to do would be to avoid trouble and walk away. But people aren't always choosing the smart option. Sometimes we act too quickly and let emotions run wild rather than make use our brain and think first. Especially when we're drunk.
Paparazzis know that their presence will annoy celebrities. They willfully take a risk to "get hurt" to get that one photo that will earn them big bucks. These guys make a good living from this... but I wouldn't call it a decent job.
I don't blame Jay one bit. Sure, he could have been smarter. But you know what? He's only human... errare humanum est!
One thing is sure though... Jay needs to cut down on the booze and smoke some more ganja. Chill bro, chill. _________________ Old school forever! |
