I'm currently reading "A woman of substance" by Barbara Taylor Bradford. it's the story about a very powerful woman who has had the intelligence and strength to get succed in life. she has built a great business empire around the world, but she was feeling empty on the inside. I'm literally eating this book, it's great |

The Emperor Wears No Clothes by Jack Herer
Recommended! Interesting read whether you use the herb or not. I believe there's a free (and approved) online version somewhere (Google it). _________________ Old school forever! |

The Book of Secrets: Unlocking the Hidden Dimensions of Your Life by Deepak Chopra.
A very interesting book.
The author shows how the mystery of life can be illustrated by the wisdom and workings of one's body; the most important secret is transcending one's egocentric viewpoint and accepting a single reality: ur not in the world; the world is in u. _________________

Great topic Marina!
Haruki Murakami - Tokyo Blues, Norwegian Wood
Nick Hornby - Fever Pitch, High Fidelity
and lately I've been reading a lot Wilbur Smith and his best novels in my opinion are:
Monsoon
When the Lion Feeds
Power of the Sword
Rage (absolutely recommended, the scenario is the south africa during the apartheid )
The Seventh Scroll
I'm reading right now:
Tom Clancy - Rainbow Six
...I even read some other "more serious" novels but in the last years I used books to relax...I just need a nice story...
(...and some italian writers, Andrea De Carlo just to tell one...) _________________ I once had a 10 years of Travelling Without Moving celebrations banner here... |

l'île gauchier --> Alexandre Jardin (you will surely get another vision about love and having an affaire after reading this !)
The best book i've ever read !!!! And i've read it like 9 times now ! I give you all a tip: if you have a favorite book and you hand it out, be sure you will get it back ! I've lost this book (the dutch version) this way and it's not edited anymore...
So, my hero is the one who find and sell me this book in Dutch ! _________________ www.thisispeggy.com

100% agree. I love this book.
I have been red meat free for 6 weeks now! I was for a few years a long time ago, but I am doing it again. I plan on making so many other changes too!
Great book!
My recommendation is
'Gal' by Ruthie Bolten
and
'And the Band Played On'
love them both! _________________ www.dee34.wordpress.com |

I'm more a suspense novel type of reader, so I'm gonna recommend 'Wilt', by Tom Sharpe.
Black humour and suspense, involving a crime, a missing wife, the police following clues and an inflatable doll (the most important character in the story!)
In the same type of novel, the first one I read long time ago: 'Gone South', by Robert McCammon. Like 'The Fugitive'.

Thanks for this topic - I was about to open a book recommendation topic myself just in order to present the book Sandra and Deesha were mentioning:
The Food Revolution - John Robbins
Most of you might think food and what we eat is a personal decision, but while I have read this book I learned that it is way more than just a personal thing. The decision what we eat has an impact not only on our own health, but also on the destiny of millions of living creatures and the whole planet home. Yes, indeed - the way we eat has a profound environmental impact on our planet!
I like the book especially because John Robbins is proving his information and facts with sources and evidence. It opens your eyes how the food industry is fooling us with false allegations.
It's a powerful and provocative expose of the political, economic and social realities of our current food system.
I have read reviews from people who have read the book - one said: "Give a copy to everyone you care about!"
I immediately sent it to Deesha and Sandra - if I had the money I'd send it to all my friends, maybe I'll do it, step by step. Everyone should know those facts in order to make responsible-minded decisions - for yourself and the planet!
You can read chapter one on this website, to get an impression.
http://www.foodrevolution.org/food_revolution.htm
(direct link: http://www.foodrevolution.org/chapter_one.htm)
..and read all the reviews here:
http://www.foodrevolution.org/endorsements.htm
If you are ready for this book, I am sure it will open your eyes and heart - and it will probably change your life!!
It is available in german and english - check in your local bookstore if you can get it in your own language.
