Mike Oldfield: "Amarok"
It's BEEEEEEAUTIFUL! 60 minutes of simply amazing, undescribable stuff in one song! Especially the African chants in the ending! If you never had the chance to listen to this, find the CD right now! You'll be amazed at how beautiful this song-album is! |

Yeah!! Mike Oldfiels is great!!
I have all his discography, and many bootlegs. I like Oldfield very much.
The Amarok Album was the last edited lp under the Virgin Label. The producers of Virgin wanted thaqt disc to be caqlled Tubular Bells 2, because the quality of the music, but Mike Oldfield didn´t weant to call in that mode.
Finally, the Amarok record appeared, and Mike Oldfield threw the contract to the rrubbish and signed with Warner rercords company. Do you know what was one of the first records with that new label? Tubulart Bells 2. _________________

Yeah, Tubular Bells is great, too. I have that album on my MP3 player. I can listen to it, start-to-end all the time and it never gets boring.
...But just why does Allmusic guide give almost every Oldfield album three stars? |

Have you noticed that in Tubular Bells Mike Oldfield doesn´t play drums? 1 hour of great music without that instrument, I think that´s great, and every instruments are played by Mike.
He used a house-made multitrack recordedr to record the album.
And other note: In Amarok album, you can hear a morse code in some part of the track. If you translate that code, you will see that he tolds the Virgin records director to... well, not good words. _________________

My recommendation is to hear the song "Guilty" from Mike Oldfield. This song, if I remember well, has a greta funky bass line _________________

"Guilty" is a single from 1979. it was named as a "disco" song, it impressed for been a Mike´s song with that rhythm. _________________
