Prince fans agree - AFO's probably the best shit of the dec.
And I'm not kiddin'. Although they always have those love/hate fights between themselves about the band. (Bleaaachhhh.) So... Yeah... They find J's voice awfully annoying for some reason, but I guess it's the drugz to blame there.
Now really, if P fans [complete J-outsiders, to be precise] like it, why shouldn't we? You know, I feel like we threw the record away because it was different, something we really shouldn't've done. Might've not been as quality as TROTSC or EOPE, but it was good. It had high points, didn't feature no guest [c]rapper, no hoes, no money. It was MTV-incompatible, and that's just what I find the essence of the band to be. It had low points, too, but why couldn't you just ignore them, and have positive feelings evoked by the album, rather than looking at the record in that awful way we all do? Sure, it was most probably mediocre, but enjoyable nontheless...
...and it still wasn't Metal Machine Music. ( ) |

I don't understand this topic. Not everyone hates Afo, and where did that Prince comparission come from?
We've talked about AFO millions of times, and everyone's entitled to their own opinions, so what's the point?

COMPARISON? WITH PRINCE? OH, GOD NO. I'm just saying what Prince fans said - that they love the album for some reason. A, well, it's them who are used to drum machines, not us. |

Wasn't sure where to post this, but they've got a new Jamiroquai Appreciation Thread at Prince.org, and it's really pleasing to read that Prince fans out there actually dig the shit. |

I consider AFO a way better effort than Dynamite. For a simple reason. There's Toby's input in there. And also jay wasn't so drug ravaged than he was before Dynamite. _________________ At the speed of cheeba, you and I go deeper... |

Matt Johnson did a great job with Rob Harris. "Dynamite", "Seven Days in Sunny June", "Tallulah" and "Time Won't wait" are, for example, really good tunes (maybe Time Won't wait is along Shoot the moon and Do It like we used to do, the best Jamiroquai track in the 2000') and I don't see these songs less good than A funk odyssey's tracks...
These albums have been it own charm! _________________ "People find it's hard to be strong, cos' they don't know where they're coming from" |

Funny old topic!
But I do love AFO and I'm a huge Prince fan.
Maybe there's a correlation! |
