Today I declare the official Jamiroquai day. Why? Because 15 years ago...
When You Gonna Learn was the first ever release by the band and was on their original label - Acid Jazz. Following this release, the band moved to the Sony Music label and signed an eight album deal.
UK Acid Jazz release
This single is the band's first release ever and is the only one to actually include the "Canté Hondo Instrumental" version. After two weeks in the UK singles chart in October 1992, it popped back into the chart for a week at number 69 on 14 February 1993 after the single was re-released on 08 February 1993.
When You Gonna Learn - Digeridoo (3.47)
When You Gonna Learn - Digeridon't (3.55)
When You Gonna Learn - JK Mix (6.20)
When You Gonna Learn - Canté Hondo Mix (5.47)
When You Gonna Learn - Original Demo (4.50)
When You Gonna Learn - Canté Hondo Instrumental (5.47)
Catalogue Number: JAZID 46CD
Label: Acid Jazz
Year: 1992
Format: CD
Packaging: slimline jewel case
Release date (UK): 19 October 1992 _________________ Old school forever! |

Wohooo.... happy anniversary Jamiroquai!
I was just wondering where I was when this happend... 15 years ago...
Well I was in my last year of school (13th year) in high school, preparing to graduate in summer 1993. I was in a "long-time-relationship" with my first boyfriend, still... who, by the way, always doubted that my love to jamiroquai will last. He always expected my passion to be a "phase". How wrong he was.
A very special day - thanks for reminding, Jonas!!

I was in the lycée (High school) at 6ième (8th class) at that time.
But I have to admit that I heard the first time from Jamiroquai when their first Sony single was released, "Too young to die" for instance. I immediately liked their style and this remains until now!
So, happy anniversary Jamiroquai! _________________

When this single was released I was 5 years old!!!
I didn't get into the band until around 1996 (when I was nine) but since then Jamiroquai have been my umber 1 band and depite the broadening of my musical horizons with age, I think they always will be.
Hapy anniversary Jamiroquai _________________ 'This is the world he wants, pray for the brave and the young...' |

When this single was released I was working with various stuff. I was making still picture advertisments for the local television channel. I created text TV pages for national TV channels as well as MTV Europe. I was giving introduction courses in PhotoShop (Mac) and Corel Draw (PC) to a few clients in Sweden, including Asea Brown Boveri. I also worked extra in a music shop specialising on guitars and related equipment. During December 1992 a new acquaintance, a girl, told me about a new British band called Jamiroquai. So when I went to London to celebrate New Year's Eve I went to Soho and bought myself JAZID 46CD. The journey towards being a nutcase collector had begun. Thank you Rebecka! _________________ Old school forever! |

Unbeliveable. 15 years are gone. I think the first time I heard something about jamiroquai was some months later on a magazine we read at school during the English lesson. There was an article about a band with a strange name that wanted to save the planet Sometimes you don't actually realize what is happening until you see the spark of love...

You did the right thing Meike, kept the love for jmq and broke the relationship, he didn't understand you _________________ I once had a 10 years of Travelling Without Moving celebrations banner here... |

Happy Anniversary!! (party here tomorrow, anyone's welcome
15 years ago, in 1992, I was 6 years old... and most likely playing with these:
I became an official fan in 1999, 8 years ago. Can't get enough I think my life would have been completely different without this band, I honestly think so. Just a big part of the people I know are somehow related to Jamiroquai.
And the music is just... special.
Happy Birthday to Jamiroquai

I know this sounds utterly corny but i really can't live without having a slice of Jamiroquai in me life every day.....i know that seems daft when, essentially, the 'Quai are only a band but never has a band sounded so 'spot-on' in the way they sound....Thanks Jamiroquai! _________________ ''SYNKRONIZED SINCE '94' |

Hello there on this great occasion,
Yes, I like much of you was a "sprite young lad" of 15 earth cycles traversing his local independant record store in late 1991/early 1992 when WYGL plumed through the air and inherented itself into my musical loves . Amongest the endless JK interviews from over the years, JK and the band never did expect to become the WORLD'S proper purveyor and revivalists of Acid Jazz/Funk, but Jamiroquai are now legendary with their fans, having spurned 6 multi-platinum studios, a plethora of 1# hits, several Grammies, a World Music Award, A Ivor Novello Award, 11 MTV Video Music Awards, among the most prominant accolades. So 15 years on, Jamiroquai continues to influence us all, either with their music, their lyrical principles ( Personally I continue to abide by, respecting all humanity and using common sense has a invaluable guidance resource ), their common human emotive opinions that ring true during any time in our existance, teaching other bands how to MAKE music and their KILLER and unstoppable live shows . And I could not well forget all the fellow fans whom have connected due to their love of the music of Jamiroquai, through the forums, groups, social communities and other places on the internet where they meet up . Here's to JK, and everyone in the Jamiroquai Universe, may the new independant and digital Jamiroquai be AS FRUITFUL....AND MORE FRUITFUL to us all in the coming time . Cheers!
Sincerely,
JamiroFan2000 _________________
