Jamiroquai named One Hit Wonder Band by MTV2.
AS quoted from the descriptionof the show: Whatever happened to those cool, edgier bands that should have had careers, i.e. At The Drive In, Folk Implosion, The Verve, Temple of the Dog, Elastica, Mother Love Bone, Blur, Moby, Jamiroquai, The Hives, Filter, Fatboy Slim, etc.? MTV2 brings you the 411 in this hour long special.
If you live in America the show airs the 26th of July at 1pm on MTV2.
Don't they know anything about Jamiroquai??? |

crazy!
Those people are crazy. What would be their one hit in America? Cosmic Girl, Canned heat or virtual insanity, and thats only in america - america is not the world market!
Jamiroquai have been a driving force in the European and Australian Music industry! We were in the beach palace in sydney and in the they had jamiroquai remixes going all night long, i heard cosmic girl, main vein, little l, space cowboy, deeper underground and much to my surprise 'When you gonna learn'! i was surprised. If DJ are still spinning tunes in hot spot in major cities how is it then that they are a one hit wonder! |

Oh god I know. You are so right simone! America hasn't looked at Jamiroquai's success in the rest of the world. |

not only jamiroquai, but most of the bands in this list were more than a "one hit wonder".
for example, blur, moby and fatboy slim are active for about 10 years and released several sucsessive albums. it's maybe understandable why blur or fatboy were treated like jamiroquai is treated in the us: in usa, they had one or two hits (like jamiroquai, they're other matirial was a hit al over the world exept in america), but moby is a sucessful american musician. how could they call him a one hit wonder.
most of the time it's because of large ignorance to non-american music, but it's hard for me to understand why did they include moby in this list. _________________

Yea Digin, When I read that I thought that some of the bands in the list like Mody and Fatboy Slim had other hits too. Too bad the music industry has become this bad. |

I had emailed MTV after that aired for the first time, I'm sure they didn't read it, due to all the expletives. |

ignorance is NOT bliss
Yeah, I can understand that. I think he was also mentioned on VH1 on a "whatever happened to" type of show. Forgive them my friends, they know not what they say. It kills me however when American artists have to go to Europe to make it big before they can be recognized... Bob Marley, The Roots to name a few. Anyone on this board from Alabama??? Gee, I wonder... _________________ Enter the mind of the coolpoet:

I'm from Alabama
Believe it or not someone else from Alabama is here. Personally, I think the finger has to be pointed at Jamiroquai and Sony. You can't expect to be big in the USA when you tour and promote your music EVERYWHERE except here. Plain and simple. I love the music but I'm a little pissed at the lack of consideration given to the US. |

Love music, must travel!!
Hey Cosmoos! You know I read one of the articles on funkin.com and he said that when he plays here now he plays at small local clubs that don't bring in much money. I guess I can understand that seeing as though this is still his bread and butter. It is all about city tours too I guess. Like performing in Atlanta would make more sense than performing in Birmingham. Disco has not been en vogue here in the states for quite awhile so everyone still remembers Virtual insanity because it had a different sound than funk oddysey. The market really just sucks out here and it is disheartening to not feel involved.
It was the same with reggae music out here for a long time untill Sean Paul came on the scene and everyone is acting like reggae is brand new! I had friends who once looked at me weird and are now asking me to borrow my stuff. I'm still happy because now I can find real old stuff that is re-surfacing on CD/DVD in a much higher quality than before. Perhaps one day Jamiroquai will make a big come-back to the states and Europeans will laugh at us like we discovered something new.
I personally think that Jamiroquai can use the US market to their advantage and expand on musical creativity. I read an article on how he admired Craig David and I would like to hear JK do some collabos with some folks. I would also love for him to do some more reggae music. Let's integrate!!! _________________ Enter the mind of the coolpoet:
